Boys’ Modified Basketball

The 8th Grade Basketball defeated Nanuet on Tuesday 45-32 @ Nanuet. Sleepy Hollow controlled the game from the get go, utilizing a half court and full court press that caused several Nanuet turnovers. Harley Falasca led all scorers with 14 points. Tommy Fahey had 7, Frank Curnaj 6, Ronny Rodriguez, 4, Freddie Bertrand 4, Jack Centra 4, Christian Berenguer 4, and Nick Vallo 2.

Yesterday, the Horseman were back at home facing a tough Suffern team. They lost to them two weeks ago. The game was neck and neck from the opening whistle to the final buzzer. The Horseman fell short 56-52. The Horseman fell into foul trouble once again when center Frank Curnaj fouled out in the 4th quarter. Suffern went to the foul line a total of 30 times, compared to the Horseman’s 15, and that seemed to make the difference in the end. Harley Falasca scored a season high 24 points to carry the Horseman. At least four of his buckets would have been 3-pointers at the next level. Ronny Rodriguez netted 14 for the Horseman. It was a well fought game, with both teams leaving everything on the floor. Referees, parents, and coaches all agreed, it was the best Modified game they have seen all year.

The Horseman will face undefeated Tappan Zee @ TZ on Monday. The Horseman are the only team in the league to give TZ a scare this season.
