On Monday, May 14th, the jv baseball team beat Ardsley 4-2 behind the combined pitching performance of Daniel Chèvre and Adam Rosenbloom. Joe Good had the go ahead RBI in the 5th and sleepy added a run in the 6th. Next up is a rematch against Ardsley on May 15th at Ardsley.

On Wednesday May 9th the JV baseball team beat Irvington for the 2nd time in three days 2-1 in 10 innings. The game was tied 1-1 for most of the game until Mike Fortugno ended it with a bases loaded game winning single in the bottom of the 10th. Not only did Mike win the game with the bat, but he pitched 9 innings letting up only 4 hits, 1 run, and striking out 10. Mike also scored Sleepy’s first run in the 2nd inning. It was a total team effort defensively and a gritty win for the now 9-2 JV team. Next up the Horsemen have Ardsley at home on Monday the 14th.

On Monday, May 7th the jv baseball team improved to 8-2 with an exciting win over Irvington by a score of 5-3. Jack Corcoran pitched a great game only letting up one earned run through six innings. With the score tied 2-2 in the top of the 7th, Sleepy was able to scratch together 3 runs with hits by Aaron Ippolito, Mike Fortugno, and a sac fly by Dan Chevre. Adam Rosenbloom was able to get the save in the bottom of the 7th. Next for the jv team will be a rematch with Irvington on Wednesday, May 9th at Sleepy Hollow High School.

Modified Baseball, Friday April 27, 2012 – In the season’s first official game, the Sleepy Hollow Middle School baseball team was defeated by Tuckahoe 9-6. The game was stopped after the sixth inning due to the Time Limit Rule. The next contest will be played at Losee Park against Edgemont on Wednesday, May 2nd.

On Tuesday, April 25th the jv baseball team beat Hastings 6-3 behind Daniel Chevre who had his first start of the year. Daniel pitched five strong innings striking out 10 and only letting up 2 earned runs. Offensively Nick Gaspare and Adam Rosenbloom each had three hits with Adam adding three RBI’s and Nick contributing three stolen bases. Next up is a game versus Martin Lither King high school on Monday the 30th at Losee Park.

Sleepy Hollow (10-0) defeated Hastings 7-5 on Wednesday, April 25th. Armando Cabrera went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run and winning pitcher Edwin Lebron went 2 for 4 with two RBI’s. Peter Pena had two key defensive plays from behind the plate to stifle Hastings’ momentum. Sleepy Hollow is (10-0, 5-0 League). We will host Mt. Vernon on Monday, April 30th. A win on Monday will break the school record for consecutive wins.

On Tuesday April 24th, Dionel Infante, Jason Martinez, Ronniel Munoz, and Immer Rosado each had two hits and an RBI to defeat Hastings 7-2. Winning pitcher Alex Stoll went five innings and struck out eight. James Guiney drove in both runs with a single in the sixth inning for Hastings. Sleepy Hollow is now (9-0) and will face Hastings again on Wednesday, April 25th at Hastings.

On Saturday the 21st of April, the jv baseball team beat Dobbs Ferry 8-7 in 9 innings. Jack Corcoran pitched 6 strong innings for Sleepy but the bats helped keep the team in the game. Nick Gaspare had two lead changing RBI hits and Mike Fortugno hit a game winning triple in the top of the 9th to put the Horsemen up for good. Adam Rosenbloom added 3 hits including 2 RBIs and also closed out the last three innings of the game for his first win of the year. The team has their next game at Hastings on Monday, April 23rd.

On Friday April 20th, the Headless Horseman (7-0) defeated Class B #2 ranked Dobbs Ferry 1-0 behind an incredible pitching performance by Edwin Lebron (5-0). Dionel Infante scored the lone run in the top of the 6th inning on a hard hit ball by Armando Cabrera that scooted into the outfield.
On Saturday April 21st, Dobbs Ferry traveled to Sleepy Hollow for some revenge. The Headless Horseman sent them packing with a convincing 12-4 win. Sleepy Hollow belted out 11 hits, 4 of which were home runs! Peter pena led the way going 3 -4 with 2HR’s, 3 runs scored and 3RBI. Edwin Lebron, and Alec Stoll also homered for the Horsemen. Dionel Infante and Nick Arduino each had two hits and 2 runs scored for the Headless Horseman (8-0). Inmer Rosado (2-0) picked up the win with 6 strong innings pitched. The Sleepy Hollow Headless Horseman face Hastings Monday and Wednesday, April 23rd and 25th, both league games.

Modified Baseball, Friday April 20, 2012 -In a contest played as a scrimmage, the Sleepy Hollow Middle School baseball team was defeated by Ardsley 7-2. The game was stopped after the sixth inning due to the Time Limit Rule. Some highlights of the game were: three scoreless defensive innings, six players had the opportunity to pitch, and free substitution, allowing players to play multiple positions. The next contest will be played against Solomon Schechter on Monday, April 23rd at Losee Park.
