At John F. Kennedy High School (Somers), the Horsemen jumped out to an early 4 - 2 lead after the first quarter. Their lead would grow to 8 - 2 by halftime and 11 - 2 by the end of the third. A late surge by the Gaels, cut the lead to 11 - 5, but the comeback would fall short as Spencer White and John Bucci put in two late goals to seal the victory. White led all scorers with five goals while Bucci added a total of two goals and three assists. Brendan Chillemi had four goals on the day while Zack Siska and Avri Sainte each added one. Sam Schnog assisted two goals while Connor Tompkins assisted one other. Once again, Junior Goal-Keepers split time. Solid play from both, John Lopez and Vinny Mazzacone behind the defense of Steve Amaro, John Bonanno and Dan Mosa kept Kennedy in check most of the game. The Horsemen Visit Albertus Magnus Tuesday May 13, 2008 and wrap up the regular season at Peekskill on Friday, May 16th.

The Horsemen hosted the Nanuet Golden Knights.

After coming out with a strong 1st quarter and a 3 – 1 lead, the Horsemen found themselves down 3 – 4 at halftime. A hard-fought second half would fall short of the come back. The Horsemen were plagued by a total of nine team penalties. Nanuet was successful in converting on three of those “man-up” opportunities, and it would prove to be just enough for the Nanuet 6 - 5 win.

Senior, Brendan Chillemi scored four goals in his return to the starting line-up. Spencer White scored the other Sleepy Hollow goal.

Come support the Horsemen as they travel to Torne Valley to play Clarkstown North on Monday, April 14th at 4pm.

In their Season and Home Opener, The Horsemen got a taste of their potential this season. In a very hard-fought and thrilling battle, the Horsemen fell just short of a late come back as the North Salem Tigers won in overtime 5 - 4.

Strong play by some of the Horsemen veterans like, Connor Tompkins, John Bonanno, Steve Amaro, Dan Pineda (1 goal) and Kevin Blank (1 assist) was complimented by new starters such as John Bucci (2 goals/1 assist), Zack Siska (1 goal), Spencer White (1 assist) and Ryan Tompkins.

Dan Pineda scored the fourth Sleepy Hollow goal to tie up the game with 2:05 remaining. After surviving a penalty and a consequent “man-down” situation, North Salem scored the first and only goal in the Sudden Victory Overtime Period.

The valiant effort by the Horsemen in the opener leaves fans to believe in this promising 2008 season. Our next game is on Tuesday, April 8th at Edgemont.

The Horsemen finish the season 6-3: Beat Edgemont 5-2

On the final day of the season, Friday May 25th, the Horsemen (6-3) were faced with two tough opponents; the Edgemont Panthers and the heat.  By the end of the day, neither one got the best of the Horsemen as they cruised to a dominant 5-2 victory over Edgemont.  It was a slow played game, but one that concluded with the Horsemen victorious for the 6th time this season.

The season was highlighted by some stellar play by the Horsemen captains John Michael Bogusz, Jorge Berenguer, Tim Rachlin, Mike Segarra, and fellow 8th graders Jay Ramirez, Chris Diaz, Tom Carraro, Emmanual Cruz, Jimmy Bender and Brandon Patino.  To make the future for our program even brighter is the development of our 7th grade talent: Kyle McGovern, LJ Garrant, Jack Centra, Tom Fanelli, Matt Cassarin, Alex Mendonca, Christian Zhinin, Gabe Palacios, and Will Kelly.

This season marked the first time in recent memory that the Horsemen finished a season with a winning record, a .667 winning percentage (which is currently better than the NY Yankees).  The future is bright for the Sleepy Hollow Lacrosse program.  Good luck to all modified Horsemen.  Keep up the hard work.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 6-3 RECORD

GO HORSEMEN!
