Modified Boys’ Lacrosse

On Tuesday, May 9th the Horsemen played host to a strong Mamaroneck team boasting their own 5-2 record. The afternoon started with a new goalie standing between the pipes for our boys. Zack Bernstein made 15 saves in goal to preserve Sleepy Hollow’s home field record. The home team went into the half down one goal. Minutes into the third the boys in red found themselves down two but they soon would answer with a three goal run. With a 5-5 tie late in the fourth the Horsemen would score one more for the go ahead goal with twenty seconds left. After a scuffle at the face off X the visiting tigers came up with a ground ball and a shot on goal for the tie. The game would end 6-6. Some home team standouts were Zack Bernstein, Kevin Borden, Mike Lopez, Jacob Smith, Harry Bogusz, Kasper Endreny, Jack Weitzner, and Isaac Newland. The Horsemen suit up again Tuesday May 15th.

Modified Boys’ Lacrosse

On Thursday, May 3rd Horsemen lacrosse traveled to Scarsdale again. This time our boys come home with a victory. Mathew Briante and Ben McCoy recorded their first starts at their respective positions. The goalie play was fantastic as usual with few shots taken by Scarsdale’s attack and Dimitre Ridley collecting 6 more saves. The offense was led by Harry Bogusz with four goals. Other contributors were Isaac Newland, Kasper Endreny, and Jack Weitsner. The visiting Horsemen controlled most of the game and came away with a 8-3 victory. They improved to 4-2 and play at home against Mamaroneck on Tuesday, May 8th. Come and support.

Modified Boys’ Lacrosse

On Tuesday, May 1st the modified lacrosse team lined up against Edgemont at home. Our boys protected their undefeated home streak to make them 3-0 in Sleepy Hollow. We started the game down 3-1 but with a furious offensive possession the Horsemen went into the half only down one. Our boys played great at home behind Isaac Newland’s four goal effort. Kasper Endreny and Jack Weitzner each added one goal and one assist. The score was 5-3 in the third before Edgemont finished two quick goals to tie it all up at five. Isaac Newland would finish scoring for the day on his fourth in dramatic fashion. Dimitre Ridley would record 9 saves on another great day in goal while Kasper Endreny would step in goal in the fifth to make two saves of his own. Tuesday’s standouts were Ben McCoy, Harry Bogusz, Mike Lopez, and Josef May. The boys in red suit up on Thursday May, 3rd away against Scarsdale. GO HOLLOW!!

Modified Boys’ Lacrosse

On Thursday, April 26th the modified boys’ lacrosse team traveled to White Plains Middle School to take on the Tigers at their home field. The game would have a quick start with a quick 1-1 score as the Horsemen matched White Plains’ first goal of the day. The rain didn’t stop the game and would never put a stop to scoring. The first half would end with the red and white behind 7-4. Harry Bogusz would retain possession for our boys at the faceoff X and we scored the first of the half on a Kasper Endreny goal. However, that would be the end of the Horsemen scores in the third stanza. White Plains would go on to make the score 10-5 to start the last quarter of play. Behind Jacob Smith and a furious midfield attack the Horsemen would stage a comeback, scoring three goals to make it 10-8. Dimitre Ridley would play his best game of the season on a day where shooters were at every position on the field. He made a career high 17 stops. The modified boys held possession for three of the last five minutes of the game with multiple shots on goal but none would fall. The Horsemen suit up again on Tuesday, May 1st to play host to visiting Edgemont at the High School field. Come and support our boys as they protect their undefeated record at home.

Modified Boys’ Lacrosse

On Tuesday, April 24th the boys’ modified lacrosse team improved to 2-1. In the best half of lacrosse of the season as of yet the boys collected 16 ground balls, took 11 shots, and controlled the tempo of the game with a 5-1 score. The final score would be 5-3 after a fierce come back by the Bronxville attack. Dimitre Ridley made 7 stops in his second appearance in goal. Jack Wietzner led the way for the Horsemen with 2 goals and 2 assists. Jacob Smith and Isaac Newland would each add one goal on the day. David Husselbee would cap off scoring with his first goal of the season. Harry Bogusz and Kasper Endreny led the way in transition and in the ground ball effort. The ground ball game was dominated by our boys at home with 39 loose balls collected on the day. The Horsemen play the White Plains tigers on Thursday, April 26th at White Plains Middle School.

Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse

Horsemen Defeat Ardsley 14 – 3 – Arpil 24th

The varsity boys’ lacrosse team improved their record to three and four, with a 14 – 3 victory over Ardsley. The potent offense featured NINE different players contributing to the scoring. Jake Warren led all scorers with three goals and one assist. Steven Bencosme tallied four points as well with two goals and two assists. Goal-keeper, Alex Laub led the stingy defense with nine saves. The Horsemen look to even their record when they host Edgemont on Wednesday, April 25th at 4:30pm.

JV Boys’ Lacrosse

On Tuesday, April 24th the jv bBoys’ lacrosse team traveled to Ardsley. The boys dominated the game with a decisive 5-3 win. Seung P. and Johnny K. each added a goal, while freshman sensation Daniel Y. recorded his first hat trick plus two assists. Join the team as they travel to Bronxville on Wednesday, April 25th to face a tough Bronco team.

Modified Boys’ Lacrosse

On Thursday, April 19th the Horsemen traveled to Scarsdale Middle School to compete in their first away game of the season. The Scarsdale Raiders played a great game in a 10-1 defeat of the Horsemen. Dimitre Ridley (8th grade) played great in his first start in the goal with 7 saves. Although our boys leave with many things to work on there were some high points in the game for the boys in red and white. David Husslebee (7th) went 10 of 12 at the faceoff X for his second stellar performance in three days. Jacob Smith (7th) stepped up on Thursday with the lone Horsemen goal early in the third quarter. Harry Bogusz (8th), Kasper Endreny (7th), and Josef May (7th) played great, tough, Sleepy Hollow lacrosse. The star of the afternoon was John Welch (7th), playing great in all aspects of the game and was a leader for the team. The Horsemen play again on Tuesday, April 24th when we host visiting Bronxville at 4:30.

Modified Boys’ Lacrosse

On Tuesday, April 17th, the modified lacrosse boys hosted Ardsley to open up the season with a victory. Ardsley scored the first two goals of the competition within the first minutes of the contest. The Horsemen defense buckled down from then on and didn’t allow another goal until the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Isaac Newland (7th grade) then introduced himself to Sleepy Hollow athletics with the first two Horsemen goals of the season to tie it up at 2. Kasper Endreny (7th grade) added one more for the home team for a 3-2 halftime score. Newland would put one more away before Jack Weitzner (7th grade) would cap off the Sleepy scores for the day. The defense, led by goalie Andrew Martin (8th grade) who had 15 saves on the day, showed great toughness. Mike Lopez (7th), Xavier Rodrigues (7th), Dimitre Ridley (8th) all played great defense in support of Martin. Some Horsemen standouts were David Husslebee and Jahmaali James on the faceoff X. Harry Bogusz and Kevin Borden shared 4 ground balls each to lead the team. Ground balls really do win games. The Horsemen suit up again on Thursday, April 19th at Scarsdale middle school for a 4:30 contest.

Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse

Horsemen Win at Nanuet – Tuesday, April 17th

The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team improved their record to two and three, with an 8 – 2 win over the Nanuet Knights. Senior Captain, LJ Garrant led all scorers with two goals and two assists. Jack Centra and Frank Curanaj scored two goals each, while Ben Parens and Jake Warren each added one goal. Steven Bencosme contributed with one assist. Goal-keeper, Alex Laub led the defense with eight saves. Tyler O’Donnell, Julian Muniz and Nick Yawman provided sound defense during the victory. The Horsemen look to even their record, when they visit Briarcliff this Saturday, April 21st at 11am.
