On Saturday, October 23rd, the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed at the Section 1 Coaches Invitational at Pawling HS. Katherine Doyle had a fantastic race placing 5th overall. David Maldonado placed 39th in a time of 18:42. Our next meet is Saturday, October 30th at Somers HS. We will be competing in the Westchester County Championships. Come out and support the team.

On Wednesday, October 13th, the boys and girls XC teams competed in the II-3 League Championships. David Maldonado led the way for the Horsemen running a personal best time and shattering the sophomore course record. Kyle McGovern placed 2nd for the Horsemen in a personal best time of 18:33. 8th grader Henry Hargitai smashed the 8th grade course record in 18:39. All three runners received All-League Honors for their efforts. Lucas Schaffer and John Sampaio, also with personal bests, placed 4th and 5th respectively for the Horsemen. It was the closest scoring league meet in over a decade. The Horsemen placed 4th overall as a team, but was only a couple points behind the winning team from Pleasantville.
On the girls side, Katherine “The Beast” Doyle continues to dominate. She placed 1st overall and was over 2 minutes ahead of the field. She received All-League honors. Sophie Simon placed 2nd for the Horseman and received All-League Honorable Mention. Emily Hargitai, Nicole Rjeili, Victoria Nadile, and Sarah Alfonso rounded out the rest of the team.
Our Next meet is Saturday, October 23rd at Pawling HS.

The Sleepy Hollow Modified Cross Country team had their first meet on Thursday October 7th at the Harrison Invitational. There were some 25 schools competing in the event with approximately 800 runners. The competition was tough, but the Sleepy runners demonstrated that they are very tough competitors. All of the team set personal records. Most notable runners were Chris Pierre-Jacques who finished first out of 245 eighth grade boys with a time of 7:49 followed by Ellis Leggio who finished 24th with a time of 8:35. Jackie Maldonado placed 11th out of 136 seventh grade girls with a time of 9:38. The team’s next meet is on Tuesday October 12th at Ardsley. Great Job Team!!!

On Saturday, October 9th the boys’ and girls’ XC team competed in the Bobcat Invitational at Byram Hills HS. David Maldonado had a fantastic race placing 19th overall in a time of 18:29. Gadi Langsam did quite well for his first invitational finishing in 21:04. Katherine “The Beast” Doyle continued on her winning ways. She took the overall title by placing 1st in a time of 19:56. She held off Annie Field, from Irvington, in the stretch to secure the win. It’s Katherine’s 3rd straight Invitational title this season. Our next meet is this Wednesday, October 13th, at Rockwood Hall. Come out and support the XC team.

On Tuesday, October 5th, the boys’ and girls’ Cross Country teams competed against Ossining, Fox Lane, and Harrison at Ryder Park. In the tough conditions, Kyle McGovern led the way for the Horsemen placing first for the team. Henry Hargitai and David Maldonado were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Katherine Doyle continued her winning ways by placing 1st overall. Sophie Simon and Emily Hargitai were 2nd and 3rd respectively for the Horsemen.
Our next meet is the League Championships at Rockwood Hall on October 13th. It is located right behind Phelps Memorial Hospital. Come out and see the boys shoot for a league title. In addition, Katherine is looking to break her course record at the League Championships.

On Saturday, October 2nd, the boys’ and girls’ XC teams competed at the Brewster Invitational. David Maldonado had a fantastic race finishing in 18:18. It was a very competitive field of seniors and he placed in the top 25%.
Katherine Doyle had one of her best races of the season, beating Brewster’s top ranked Arianna Bottalico for the victory. She finished in a time of 19:09. She led from the start and established a torrid pace that no one could hold.
Our next meet is at Ossining, on Tuesday, October 5th. The meet will be held at Ryder Park. Come out and support the team.

On Wednesday, September 29th, the boys’ and girls’ cross country team competed against Briarcliff, Pleasantville and Croton. Sophomore sensation, David Maldonado placed 3rd overall in a record breaking time of 18:39. He broke the sophomore course record. 8th grader, Henry Hargitai, placed 3rd for the Horsemen and broke the freshman course record in a time of 19:17. The boys’ team beat all three teams to sweep the meet. Kyle McGovern placed 2nd, Lucas Schaffer placed 4th and Richie Doyle placed 5th for Sleepy Hollow.
On the girls’ side, Katherine doyle dominated the field. She won by over two minutes. She missed breaking her course record by 13 seconds. Sophie Simon, Emily Hargitai, Nicole Rjeili, Victoria Nadile, and Sarah Alfonso rounded out our top 6. The girls lost to Croton, but beat Pleaseantville and Briarcliff.

On Staurday, September 25th, the Cross Country team competed at the JFK invitational in Somers. Sophomore sensation, David Malodonado had a fantastic race. Competing against a tough field of seniors, David placed 12th overall in a blistering time of 16:55! He is on pace to break the sophomore home course record as well as the overall course record.

On the girls side, Katherine Doyle just flat out dominated the field. She led the race from the gun and never looked back. At the 2 mile mark she gapped the field by over a minute. She placed 1st overall in a time of 18:21 and broke the meet record by by over 35 seconds. It was an amazing race for Katherine and she represented Sleepy Hollow with grace and class.Â

On Tuesday, September 14th, the boys’ and girls’ Cross Country teams competed against Ossining, Pleasantville, and Westlake. Sophomore sensation, David Maldonado led the Horsemen by placing 2nd overall and shattering his personal best by almost 1 minute. He was only 5 seconds behind the leader. 8th grader, Henry Hargitai, placed 9th overall and also broke his personal best. Lucas Schaffer, Gadi Langsam, Richie Doyle and John Sampaio rounded out our top 7.
On the girls’ side, junior standout Katherine Doyle ran against the boys and placed 10th overall. Her time was over 4 minutes faster than the top girls time. Sophie Simon had a nice race placing 3rd overall. Rookie Emily Hargitai, placed 11th.
Our next meet is Tuesday, September 21st at Rockwood Hall. Come out and support the team.

On Saturday, November 14th, Katherine Doyle competed in the New York State Cross Country Championships. In the pouring rain she placed 39th out of 129. She ran a fast time of 19:24 and looks to improve on that next year. Great job Katherine!
