The Sleepy Hollow Headless Horsemen lost a close one to the Eagles of Eastchester 28-27. It started off looking good for the Horsemen when Quarterback Nick Vallo scored to give the Horsemen a 7-0 lead. Things turned against the Horsemen after that and they found themselves trailing 28-13 early in the 3rd quarter. To make matters even worse, Vallo had been knocked out of the game with an injury. Tyler O’Donnell took over for Vallo and Sparked a rally. Kayzon Stoval had some inspirational runs and Chris Diaz caught a diving pass on a 2 point conversion play but the horsemen fell just a point short. Most of the Horsemen never quit and showed great heart throughout the game. Our next game is on Friday, October 8th at Nyack (McCalmun Field) at 7:30pm.

Sleepy Hollow Varsity opens up against Rye – Saturday, September 11, 2010.
In a League A-South match up, the Headless Horsemen of Sleepy Hollow took on the #1 ranked Garnets out of Rye. In a battle of 2 strong defenses, the Garnets opened the scoring midway through the second quarter with a 2 yard scamper. The Horsemen stayed poised and held the Rye offense to 58 total yards in the first half. The Horsemen let up a critical punt return for a touchdown with less than 1 minute to go in the half.
The horsemen mounted an impressive 3rd quarter offensive stand by controlling the ball for the entire period capping it with a LJ Garrant touchdown run.
The horsemen lost this battle with a final score of 28-6, but we believe the season is one that will boast many more success stories. GO HOLLOW!

After starting the season 1-3 the varsity football Horsemen made it to the sectional final game against Nanuet but fell short 29-6. Nanuet scored first but the Horsemen answered with a 2 yard touchdown pass from John Bucci to Jonathan Martin. The drive was highlighted by a 39 yard scamper by Bobby Small. After that drive the Horsemen had no answer for the power running from Nanuet’s quarterback and fullback. The Horsemen fought hard all game and even though they lost, a second place finish in the section is something to be proud of. The Horsemen finish the season with a record of 5-4.

The modified football team competed valiantly against the Quakers of Horace Greeley on October 21st at home. An enthusiastic crowd turned out on a beautiful fall afternoon to see what turned into one of the better modified football games that has been played over the last three years. Both teams entered the contest undefeated, so a challenge was anticipated by both sides.
