The girls’ basketball team finished their regular season yesterday, February 6th, with a 40-35 win at Pelham. The Pelicans made it tough on us but the Horsemen came through for our third consecutive win completing our season record at 14-4 and league season at 10-2 for second place. Daniella Carissimo was our leading scorer with 10 points and also had 10 rebounds. Grace Carr added 8 points and Jessica Tucci had 7. Our next game will be a playoff sectional game that is currently scheduled for February 17th. Additional information will be available on Monday, February 13th. The girls’ basketball team had a successful senior day yesterday, February 2nd, and said goodbye to Jamie Bucci and Barbara Good in grand fashion. The seniors led our team to victory over the Roosevelt Indians by a score of 75-29. Jamie Bucci had 8 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Barbara Good had a career high 12 points including 3 three pointers in the victory. Jessica Tucci helped with 15 points of her own. Every player for the girls scored yesterday in their win, improving their record to 13-4 and 9-2 in league play. The girls close out their season on Monday, February 6th at Pelham HS at 4:45. It will be the last game until playoffs begin in mid-February.

Our girls’ basketball team got back on track yesterday, January 31st, with a win over league rivals Eastchester, 60-22. It was a nice balanced effort by the entire team capped with 10 made three pointers on the game. Four different girls were in double figures led by Grace Carr with 14, Alex Davis-Sumter and Jess Tucci added 12 each and Daniella Carissimo had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jamie Bucci helped with 6 points, 11 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds. Barbara Good was awesome defensively with 6 steals and added a three pointer as well. Overall our team shot 44% from the field. Our record now stands at 12-4 overall and 8-2 in league play. Our next game is Thursday, February 2nd, and is our senior day which will be starting at 4:30. Sleepy Hollow girls’ basketball had their seven game winning streak snapped yesterday, January 26th by the Ardsley Panthers. The final score was 48-43. Our Hollow girls played a great game but could not end on top in the back and forth game. Jamie Bucci led the way with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Alex Davis-Sumter had 8 points to go with 6 rebounds. Daniella Carissimo contributed with 8 points and 12 rebounds. Barbara Good, Jessica Tucci & Grace Carr all played great defenses on Ardsley’s big guns keeping us in the game the whole way. Our overall record now stands at 11-4 and our league record is 7-2. The girls’ next game is Tuesday, January 31st at home against Eastchester at 4:45. Please come out and support your team!

On January 20th, the varsity girls’ basketball team won their seventh consecutive game 75-59 over the Saunders Blue Devils. It was an outstanding team effort with four girls in double figure scoring. Grace Carr led all scorers with 20 points and added 12 rebounds. Jamie Bucci put in 19 to go along with 10 assists and 5 steals. Alex Davis-Sumter was great with 15 points and 11 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists. Daniella Carissimo also helped with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. Our next game is Thursday, January 26th, at Ardsley (4:45 start) and is for first place in our league. The girls’ league record is 7-1 and our overall record is 11-3. Thanks for your support.

The Sleepy Hollow girls’ basketball team extended their winning streak to 6 games after beating Bronxville yesterday, January 17th, by a score of 63-29. Jamie Bucci once again led all scorers with 31 points and added 12 steals, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Daniella Carissimo helped with 11 points and 8 rebounds. The total story of the game was that it was a full team effort again. Every player contributed in one way or another and that is something we are proud of as a team. The girls’ record is now 10-3. Our next game is a league game at Saunders on January 20th at 4:45 pm.

Sleepy Hollow extended its current winning streak to five games in a big win over the Pelham Pelicans on January 11th. The final score was 58-33 with the Horsemen cruising out to a big first quarter lead by going on a 25-0 run. This game was led by our senior captains Jamie Bucci & Barbara Good. They set the tone early with their defense and administered the leadership needed in directing the team victory. Jamie finished with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals and 6 assists. Barbara helped out with 3 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. But the victory was a total team effort. Everyone contributed in a special win. Our record is now 9-3 and 6-1 in league play. Our next game is Tuesday, January 17th at Bronxville at 4:45.

Our girls’ basketball team have now won four straight games, all on the road. Jamie Bucci had another incredible game yesterday, January 9th, in Sleepy Hollow’s 72-48 win at Ramapo. Jamie finished with 31 points on 11-18 shooting including 5 three pointers. She also had 12 steals, 10 assists & 4 rebounds. Daniella Carissimo added 12 points in the victory. Alex Davis-Sumter contributed with 8 points, 5 steals and 5 rebounds as well. The girls’ record is now 8-3. Our next game is home on Wednesday, January 11th at 4:45 v. Pelham. On Monday January 9th the J.V. girls’ basketball team beat Martin Luther King High School in Hastings, New York. The final scored was 39-37 with the Horseman winning in overtime. The scoring was spread throughout the team including contributions from Nina Sousa, Alex Kendrick, Katie Palacios and Evalyn Hart. The girls will play again on Wednesday January 11th at home vs. Pelham.

On Friday, January 6th, the girls’ basketball team won their third straight game by winning at Roosevelt HS by a score of 71-32. Their record now stands at 7-3 and 5-1 in league play. The girls had four girls in double digit points led by Alex Davis-Sumter with 14. Daniella Carissimo had 12 points, Jessica Tuccci had 10 and Jenny Bucci contributed with 8 rebounds. Jamie Bucci Had 10 pints, 11 assists and 6 steals in the win. Our next game is Monday, January 9th, at Ramapo HS at 5 pm.
