Modified Girls’ Lacrosse

The modified girls’ lacrosse team ended their season on Thursday, May 29th, with a big win over New Rochelle by a score of 3 - 2. Elsa Veras once again played outstanding in goal to lead our team to victory. Claire Buckley, Ali London & Vali Morales all scored for the Horsemen. Our defense was led by Maya Bauer-Moshi, Sophie Simon & Marissa Barbera. Thanks for your support all season.

The modified girls’ lacrosse team battled against Edgemont on May 19th but lost by a score of 5 - 1.  Vali Morales had the only goal for the Horsemen who were playing with only 11 girls due to illness and other types of injuries.  Our next game is Wednesday, May 21st at Burke Field against Hastings.

The Sleepy Hollow varsity girls’ lacrosse team improved their record to 8-2-1, securing their place in the Sectional Tournament by defeating Keio 12-2. Horsemen offense was led by Jen Angevine with 4 goals, 1 assist, and Gianna Volpe with 3 goals, 2 assists. Maya Whitely had her first 2 varsity goals of the season. Andrea Alvarez had a goal, In-Hye Erstling had 1 goal and 3 assists, Gabby Cellante had 1 goal and Alexis Bateman had an assist. Leah Morales had 4 saves in goal. Bianca Bucci and Cathy Garro played a strong defensive game for Sleepy Hollow. They face league rival Hastings on their field Friday, May 16th at 4:30pm.

Final Score: 18 to 5
Winner: Sleepy Hollow
An offensive onslaught by Jen Angevine (6 goals), In-hye Erstling (4 goals), and Gianna Volpe (1 goal, 3 assists) alllowed Sleepy Hollow to be the victor. Leah Morales had a nice game in goal, stopping 8 shots made by Keio Academy. Bianca Bucci scored her first goal of the season.

The Modified Girls’ Lacrosse team suffered a tough defeat on Thursday, May 8th to the Irvington Bulldogs by score of 12 - 4. Alison Gasparre had her first two goals of the season and Vali Morales chipped in two of her own to increase ther team lead in goals to 6 for the season. Our next game is Friday, May 9th at 4:15 at Sleepy Hollow against the Dobbs Ferry Eagles.

The Sleepy Hollow girls modified lacrosse team battled a tough Ardsley team on Wednesday, May 7th, but just fell short by a score of 6 - 5.  Vali Morales had three goals, Sophie Parens had another & Claire Buckley finished out the Horsemen scoring.  Krista Bucci & Maya Bauer-Moshi had outstanding games defensively along with our goaltender, Elsa Veras who had 10 phenomenal saves to keep us in it. Our next game is May 8th at Irvington.

JV Girls’ Lacrosse

JV girls’ lacrosse dominated Our Lady of Victory on Monday, May 5th with a 12-2 victory. Marisa Weissman led the team with 5 goals, followed by Alexis Birrittella with 3, Annelise Birrittella with 2, and Bernice Rodriguez and Nicole Rjeili with 1 each. The strong defense, led by Daniela Uribe in goal, held off many attempts at scoring and kept constant pressure on the opponent’s offense. Congratulations to the team for a well-earned victory! Our next game is on Friday, May 9th at Hastings at 6pm.

The Varsity girls’ lacrosse team tied league competitor Briarcliff, 7-7 on Saturday, May 3rd.  The Horsemen were down 5-1 at halftime.  Their offense had a strong surge scoring 3 goals in 6 minutes led by Rachel Swenson with 3 goals.  In-Hye Erstling also led with 2 goals and one assist.  Jen Angevine and Gianna Volpe also scored a goal for Sleepy Hollow.  Leah Morales had an outstanding second half only allowing 2 goals and having 9 saves.  Bianca Bucci, Alexis Bateman, and Taylor Greenberg all contributed a solid game on defense.  The Horsemen are now 5-2-1 and head into the week facing two league opponents, Irvington on Wednewday, May 7th and Hastings on Friday, May 9th both away at 4:30pm.

The varsity girls’ lacrosse team defeated Ardsley on Thursday, May 1st 11-2 bringing their season record to 5-2 and 3-0 in the league play. Jen Angeivine led with 5 goals and Gianna Volpe also contributed 2 goals. Alee Praino had her first goal and assist. In-Hye Erstling had 1 goal and 2 assists. Katherine Doyle, Gabby Cellante, and Emily Mottola all added a point for the Horsemen. Leah had an amazing game in goal allowing only 2 goals and saving 12. They face league opponent, Briarcliff on Satirday, May 3rd at 3pm at Briarcliff.

    April 16, 2008 — Angevine Has Career High 7 Goals and 3 assists to lead the Girls Lacrosse Team in defeating league opponent Hastings 12-7.

 

In-Hye Erstling led the midfield contributing 2 goals and 3 assists.  Andrea Alvarez, Gabby Cellante, Katherine Doyle all had a goal for the Horsemen.  The game was dominated by the Sleepy Hollow defense.  Alexis Bateman played the game of the season by holding the attack in goal scoring opportunities.  Bianca Bucci, Jennifer Lopez, Rachel Swenson, Gabby Cellante, Taylor Greenberg, Alee Praino, and Cathy Garro all formed a cohesive unit on defense.  Leah Morales led the Horsemen with another double digit goalie save total of 12 saves.  The Horsemen are 4-2 heading into spring break.  They will face off against league opponent Ardsley on Thursday, May 1st.  Girls Lax is on the move… come check us out!!!
