On Wednesday, October 5th, the girls’ varsity soccer team lost a heartbreaker of a game to their neighbor Irvinton. The final score was 0-1. By no means was the loss due to a lack of effort on Sleepy’s part. Though low scoring, the game was exciting to watch and the Lady Horsemen look forward to meeting Irvington again this season. The girls continue to keep their heads held high as they look to turn around the season in the upcoming weeks. Sleepy’s next game is against Ardsley. Sophomore Katherine Thayer scored for Sleepy early in the first half, giving the Headless Horseman a 1-0 lead. The Tigers scored a goal with several minutes to go in the first half, making it a 1-1 game at the half. Two minutes into the second half, Croton scored on a fast break, but fifteen seconds later Senior Jamie Bucci answered back with a breakaway of her own, up the left hand sideline, which led to a beautiful goal off the top cross bar. It was a dog fight until the end, but Sleepy was unable to hang on as the Tigers placed a couple of nice shots on goal late in the game.
