Modified Girls’ Soccer

On Wednesday, October 24th at Peabody field history was made. The Girls’ Modified Soccer Team, due to injury to one of their star defenders(Allegra Beals) played a girl down the whole game and defeated a tough, large in numbers Valhalla team 2-1. Julia Zallo and Madison Ortiz scored, and Jennifer Onwe made two unbelievable diving saves to preserve the victory. Cami Gonzalez, Maria Alverez and Alexandra Varela played solid from whistle to whistle. The team has their next game home on Tuesday, October 30th against a strong Pleasantville team at 4:30. We hope to see you there.

Monday 10/22, the girls’ varsity soccer team once again shut out the Unicorns of Keio Academy 4-0. Lone Senior, Allaire Primiano scored 3 of the 4 goals, Jamie Bucci had the forth. Assists were made by Cathy Garro(2), Jamie Bucci(1) and Bianca Bucci(1). Marisa Rosario had 6 saves in the first half and Jamie Bucci had 5 saves in the second half. The girls final game is Tuesday 10/23 4:30PM @ home (Peabody field) against Ardsley. This will be Allaire Primianos last game, please come support the girls as they say good bye to Allaire and fight for another win for the Sleepy Hollow soccer family! The girls’ varsity soccer team played (15-1) Nanuet on Thursday, Ocgo ber 18th. The lady horsemen, as always, played extremly hard! Marisa Rosario had 16 saves and the final score was 4-0 Nanuet. The girls’ next game is Friday, October 19th at 4:30PM away at Blind Brook high school. The game following that will be at home Monday October 22nd at 4:30PM against Keio.

The Sleepy Hollow Girls’ Modified Soccer Team fell to a tough Pleasantville squad yesterday by a score of 3-1. Madison Ortiz scored the goal for Sleepy Hollow. Cami Gonzalez and Julia Zallo had a great game and Jennifer Onwe was again like a brick wall in the goal turning away 24 Pleasantville shots. The defensive trio of Allegra Beals, Maria Alvarez and Alexandra Varela again provided tough defense for the team. Our next game is Wednesday October 24th at home against Valhalla.

The girls’ modified soccer team lost a hard fought battle yesterday to Westlake. Alexandra Varela, Allegra Beals and Maria Alvarez did a terrific job playing defense. Jennifer Onwe once again was unbelievable in the goal. The girls play at Pleasantville on Thursday, October 18th with a 4:30 kickoff.

Varsity girls’ soccer played Irvington Friday the 12th of October. It was a very well played game by both teams. Sleepy had numerous shots on goal, especially in the first half. The lady Horsemen dictated the momentum of the game until midway through the second half. Irvington capitalized on their first goal, three goals followed shortly after. As always, Sleepy never gave up and held it together with their positive attitudes until the final whistle. The girls next game is Tuesday, October 16th at 4:30PM at home against Hastings. The game following that will be at home Thursday the 18th at 4:30PM.

The girls’ modified soccer team tied Valhalla on Wednesday, October 10th 3-3. All the girls played great from the starting whistle to the final whistle. Julia Zallo scored three goals for the team. Our next game is Monday, October 15th at home vs. Briarcliff.

The girls’ varsity soccer team bounced back on Tuesday, October 9th after losing to Pelham last Friday. The lady Horsemen shut out the Unicorns of Keio Academy 5-0. Goals scored for Sleepy were by Allaire Primiano, Cathy Garro (2), Devon Campbell, and Kelly Bender. Assists were by Kelly Pereira, Jamie Bucci, Devon Campbell and Taylor Greenburg. Marisa Rosario had 6 saves. The girls’ next game is Wednesday, October 10th at 4:30PM @ home against Albertus Magnus. Dont let the rain stop you from coming out and supporting the girls, be assured that it will not stop the horsemen from playing their hearts out!

The modified girls’ soccer team played a great game on Tuesday, October 9th at Peabody Field against Westlake. Julia Zallo and Allegra Beals were outstanding in the field. Jennifer Onwe provided her normal excellent performance in goal. The next game is Wednesday October 10th @ Valhalla at 4:15pm.

The Girls’ Varsity Soccer team won its home opener this season, which has not happened for many, many years. The team is led by Captains Allaire Primiano (Senior), Cathy Garro (Junior), Devon Campbell (Junior) and Bianca Bucci (Junior). This year’s team has been extremely strong in their positive attitudes and efforts both on and off the field. The Horsemen’s record is (2-7). Mid season the team fell into a bit of a slump, which they are currently trying to get out of. Their next game is @ Pelham High School today 10/5/07. The next game after today is @ Keio on 10/9. All games start between 4:15 & 4:30. Come support the girls as they unite to bring back respect for the girls soccer program!
