Varsity Softball

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

On Thursday, May 1st Sleepy Hollow Softball improved their record to 9-3 with a 3 to 2 win over previously undefeated Rye. Charlotte Frank had a key triple in the seventh inning and scored the winning run on Allaire Primiano’s double. Deanne Lindsay got the win raising her record to 7-2. Our next game is on Saturday, May 3rd against Irvington at Losee Field at 6:30pm.

The Sleepy Hollow Varsity Softball team beat Irvington 9 to 0 on Wednesday, April 30th bringing our record to (8-3). Deanne Lindsay was the winning Pitcher. She pitched a two hitter and struck out seven, making her record 6-2. Jamie Bucci had two hits and two runs scored. Danielle Fanelli had a triple and two RBI’s

Over the vacation we beat Nyack 7 to 3, lost to Dobbs Ferry 10 to 1 and lost to Pearl River 11 to 2. Our next game is on Thursday, May 1st at Rye.

On Wednesday, April 16th the Sleepy Hollow Varsity Softball team improved to six wins and no losses with a six to one victory over Hastings. Deanne Lindsay pitched the victory to improve her record to (4-0). Jessica Bucci had 2 hits including a Home Run. Allaire Primiano had two hits including a double and a triple. Jamie Bucci had two hits, two runs scored and a triple. Our next game is on Friday, April 18th at home vs. Pearl River.

On Tuesday, April 15th Sleepy Hollow varsity softball team improved there record to (5 - 0) with a 18 to 0 win over Croton-Harmon. Allaire Primiano pitched her first win. Allaire and Danielle Fanelli each had Home Runs. Deanne Lindsay and Cassandra Torres had two hits each. Our next game is on Wednesday, April 16th at home vs. Hastings.

Our undefeated Varsity Softball team improved to (4 - 0) with a win on Monday, April 14th over a previously undefeated Hasting team with a score of 2-0. The game was led with great pitching by Deanne Lindsay who won the game improving her record to (3 - 0), pitching a shut-out and striking out 5 batters. The offense was led by Jamie Bucci and Jessica Bucci — base running Jamie Bucci - 2 walks and a run scored, Jessica Bucci - a hit and a run scored. Another good team defensive effort was highlighted by a key double play that went from Danielle Fanelli to Jamie Bucci to Jessica Bucci. Our next game is on Tuesday, April 15th at home vs. Croton-Harmon. 

Modified Softball

On Monday, April 14th the modified softball team lost to Irvington 8-3. Alexandra Kendrick and Sandy Morales each pitched well with at least two strike outs each. Taylor Zayas hit a three run homerun in the top of the fourth. Overall, it was a very good start for modified softball! Our next game is on Wednesday, April 16th at home vs Pelham.

On Thursday, April 10th the Varsity Softball team improved their record to (3 - 0) by winning their home opener 5 to 4 over Edgemont in come-from-behind fashion with 2 runs in the botton of the 6th. Deanne Lindsay was the winning pitcher raising her record to 2-0, Allaire Primiano had three hits and 2 RBI’s and 2 Runs scored, Jamie Bucci also had three hits and two runs scored. Our next game is on Monday, April 14th at home vs. Hastings.

On Tuesday, April 8th the Varsity Softball won their game at Westlake 10 to 3. Deanne Lindsay was the winning pitcher Striking out 6 and giving up only 2 earned runs. Allaire Primiano led the offense with 4 hits including a Home Run. The Defense was spectacular. Great plays by Jamie Bucci, Cassandra Torres and Olga Thomas. Our next game is on Thursday, April 10th at home vs. Edgemont.

The Varsity Softball team played their first game on Wednesday, April 2nd and beat Woodlands 18-0. All Players contributed offensively led by Danielle Fanelli with 4 hits and 6 RBIs, including 2 Doubles and a Triple. All four pitchers - Allaire Primiano, Deanne Lindsay, Cassandra Torres, and Jamie Bucci - combined to pitch a ONE HIT SHUTOUT with 9 Strikeouts. Cassandra Torres succeeded in getting the WIN. Our next game is on Tuesday, April 8th at Westlake.

The varsity softball team with a line-up of 2 juniors, 2 sophomores,  3 freshmen, 2 eighth graders and a seventh grader played an outstanding game in a 4 - 0 lost to powerhouse Eastchester in their first round of sectionals.  The Bucci sisters (Jessica, a freshmen and Jamie, a seventh grader) had one hit each.  Eighth grader, Cassandra Torres, showed great maturity, pitching a seven hitter with 5 strikeouts.  Juniors Allaire Primiano and Danielle Fanelli did outstanding jobs leading the young team and played incredible defense.

Congratulations to the remainder of the team members; Deanne Lindsay, Olga Thomas, Kathy Perez, Nikki Schoen, and Brittany Brand.  The future looks bright for Sleepy Hollow softball.

Congratulations and thank you to the incredible coaching consisting staff of: Ms German, assistant varsity, Mr. Spirelli and Ms. Bellantoni, coaches of the much improved first year JV team, and Ms. Cincotta and Mr. Schwartz, coaches of the very successful, one loss, modified team.
