On Thursday, November 16th Section 1 swimming shuffled the 9 hour bus ride up to Buffalo to compete in the girls’ high school State swimming championships. The SHEDI swim team competed in two relays. The 200 Medley Relay fell a little short on Friday, November 17th at prelims of making it back to finals, but the 200 Freestyle relay squeaked by placing 22nd out of 24 teams swimming in the finals on Saturday, November 18th at Eire Community College in downtown Buffalo. The SHEDI relay was ready to improve on their 22nd place finish at prelims! They were fired up and pumped for finals and dropped almost 1 second from the previous day. They bumped up 4 places to finish 18th overall all out of 40 relays at the state meet. Sleepy Hollow’s very own senior captain Alexia Boumis was the lead off leg of this relay! Congratulations Alexia!! What a fantastic way to end your high school swimming career!!!

On Wednesday, November 9th at the Sectional Finals at Felix Festa Middle School, Senior Captain Alexia Boumis made swimming history….again. Alexia is the only Sleepy Hollow swimmer to ever qualify for the State swimming championships in 2010 and 2011 since the start of the team in 2001. Alexia was part of the 200 freestyle relay. We were seeded 2nd after prelims on Monday and were .55 off the state cut time. Wednesday was our night. They came ready and focused to swim…and swim fast they did. They qualified in the 200 free relay by cutting .90 seconds off their seed time and placed 2nd in the relay our of 28 schools. The SHEDI swim team, with 10 girls competiting in the Sectional meet, placed 8th out of 28 schools in the entire meet.

Congratulations Alexia and good luck at the State meet taking place November 17th-19th at Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY. Your coaches, teammates, peers, teachers, and administrators could not be more proud of you!

The SHEDI swim team had an incredible first night at the Sectional Championships.  On Monday, November 7th at Felix Festa MIddle School in Clarkstown, SHEDI started the night off with a bang by qualifying for the NY State swimming championships in the 200 Medley Relay and placing 2nd in the prelims.  The 200 Freestyle Relay missed the state by .50….they are placed 3rd going into Wednesday’s finals.  Congratulations to Alexia Boumis, Daniella Carissimo, and Taylor McClung on great swims at last nights meet.  Special good luck to Alexia Boumis who will be returning Wednesday night, November 9th  for the finals in two relays. 

On snowy Saturday, October 29th the SHEDI swim team competed in the Division 2 Championships at White Plains high school. After finishing 2nd in 2010, the ladies were ready to give reigning champs Ursuline a run for the title. After 4 events, SHEDI was only two points behind. In the 2nd half of the meet, Ursuline was able to pull away with some strong team swims in the 100 butterfly and 500 fresstyle. Ursuline took 1st and SHEDI placed 2nd. Congratulations to all swimmers on an excellent meet. Special congratulations to Demi McClung, Alexia Boumis, Taylor McClung, and Daniella Carissimo who all places in the top 10 out of 40 swimmers in their events. Your coaches are very proud of all of you!!

The 8-1 SHEDI swim team will be competiting at the Divisional 2 Championships on Saturday, October 29th at White Plains High School starting at 9am. The ladies took 3rd at this meet last year and have an excellent chance of winning the entire meet this year!! Good luck to all swimmers competiting!!! GOOO SHEDI!!!

The SHEDI swim team finished their season with an outstanding record of 8 wins and 1 loss. On Monday, October 24th at the EF pool in Tarrytown, the ladies defeated The Bronxville Broncos 97-63. Congratulations to Senior Captains Alexia Boumis and Kristina Figueroa on finishing their dual meet high school swimming careers. Good luck to all SHEDI swimmers competiting this Saturday at the Division 2 championships at White Plains high school starting at 9am!!! GOOOO SHEDI!!!!!

SHEDI is finishing the season strong! On Thursday, October 20th at the EF pool SHEDI beat guests Pelham 96-64. Congratulations to 8th grader Elizabeth Silver taking 3rd in the 200 freestyle. Please come down to the pool on Monday, October 24th as SHEDI swims rivals Bronxville at 4:30pm. This will also be our Senior send off meet! See you at the pool!

The SHEDI swim team continues to dominate in the pool. On Tuesday, October 18th at New Rochelle High School SHEDI defeated the Huguenots 92-76. Outstanding comeback win by Taylor McClung in the 500 freestyle made for a very exciting 2nd half of the meet. Congratulations to all swimmers and keep up the hard work. Our last two swim meets will be home! Come on out to the EF pool (formally the Marymount pool) on Thursday, October 20th as we take on Pelham and Monday, October 24th as SHEDI battles Bronxville. All home meets begin at 4:30pm.

On Thursday, October 13th the SHEDI swim team increased their winning record to 5-1 after defeating the Mamaroneck Tigers at the Hommocks Middle School 94-84. It was an outstanding meet for the entire team. A special congratulations to the talented McClung sisters…….9th grader Taylor McClung qualified for the 200 Freestyle for Sectionals, while 7th grader Demi McClung secured a spot at Sectionals in the 100 Breastroke. Well done ladies!! Next week is SPIRIT WEEK!!! What better way to show your spirit than cheering on the girls’ swim team! Thursday, October 20th SHEDI takes on Pelham home…be there…..4:30pm at the EF pool.

On Tuesday, October 12th the SHEDI swim team defeated the White Plains Tigers at White Plains high school 96-81. Congratulations to Senior Captain Alexia Boumis on qualifying in her 2nd event, 50 Free, for the Sectional Championships in November. Please come down to the EF pool on Thursday, October 20th to cheer on the swimmers as they compete against Pelham during spirit week!! GOOOO SHEDI!!!
