On Tuesday, October 12th the SHEDI swim team defeated the White Plains Tigers at White Plains high school 96-81. Congratulations to Senior Captain Alexia Boumis on qualifying in her 2nd event, 50 Free, for the Sectional Championships in November. Please come down to the EF pool on Thursday, October 20th to cheer on the swimmers as they compete against Pelham during spirit week!! GOOOO SHEDI!!!

On Thursday, October 6th the SHEDI swim team defeated the Scarsdale Raiders at the EF pool 97-69. The lady Horsemen, now 3-1, looked strong in many events including Taylor McClung in the 200 Free, Senior Captain Alexia Boumis in the 100 free, and Senior Captain Kristina Figueroa in the 50 backstroke. Please come out and support the swim team at their next home meet versus Pelham High School on Thursday, October 20th.

On Tuesday, October 4th at New Rochelle college, the SHEDI swim team lost a very close meet 90-78 to reigning Divisional and Sectional champions Ursuline. It was a close and exciting meet right up until the very last race. Congratulations to the entire SHEDI swim team for outstanding races and for showing great sportsmanship. Please come to SHEDI’s next home meet on Thursday, October 6th at 4:30pm versus Scarsdale at the EF pool.

On Tuesday September 20th at the Ardsley middle school, the SHEDI swim team powered through the Ardsley/Hastings swim team with a score of 94-73. Outstanding swims included 12th grader and Captain Alexa Boumis in the 50 and 100 freestyle, 11th grader Daniella Carissimo in the 100 backstroke and 10th grader Lily Sands in the 100 butterfly. Congratulations to Alexia Boumis, Daniella Carissimo, Taylor McClung, and Demi McClung on qualifying for Sectionals.

Please come out and cheer on the SHEDI swim team this Thursday, September 22nd at they take on Pelham at home at the EF pool (formally Marymount) starting at 4:30pm.

On September 15th 2011 at the EF pool the SHEDI swim team kicked off their season with a bang! SHEDI beat Eastchester 95-67. Outstanding swims by junior Daniella Carissimo winning the 100 Backtroke, and congratulations to 7th grader Demi McClung and Freshman Taylor McClung for qualifying for Sectionals in the first meet of the 2011 season.

Please come out to the EF pool and cheer on the team as they take on Pelham on Thursday, September 22nd vs. Pelham.

The SHEDI swim team kicked off their 2011 season on Monday, September 12th at the 30th annual relay carnival at White Plains high school. With more than 20 swim teams competing, SHEDI took home medals in four different events. Congratulations to 11th grader Daniella Carrisimo who took home two 1st place medals in the 200 Backstroke and 200 Medley Relays, 9th grader Taylor McClung won gold in the 200 Backstroke Relay and bronze in the 500 Yard Crescendo. Relay, senior captain Alexia Boumis took home a bronze in the 200 Crescendo, and 7th grade stand out Demi McClung took home gold in the 200 Breast Stroke relay. Congratulations to all SHEDI swimmers….great start to the 2011 season! Our next meet is on Thursday, September 15th at home vs. Eastchester.

Varsity Swimming

SHEDI swimmers tore up the pool last night! Ten swimmers competed in the Sectional 1 trials on Tuesday November 2nd at Felix Festa Middle School. One of the amazing results is that Sleepy Hollow is going to STATES!!! For the first time in sleepy hollow swim history (the program was started in 2001), the 4 x 100 free relay will be attending the State swimming championships at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York from November 18th-20th. Congratulations to Alexia Boumis for being part of the state qualifying relay. Congratulations to Daniela Carissimo who posted a personal best in the 100 backstroke and to 8thj grader Taylor McClung who competed in the distance freestyle. A special thank you to Captain Kerry Oliveira and Maddy McGovern who came out and cheered on their teammates!! Good luck to swimmers and divers competiting today and tomorrow.

Varsity Swimming

On Saturday, October 23rd at New Rochelle High School the SHEDI swim team showed what it means to have true grit in the sport they love. It was a battle back and forth for the entire Divisional Championships against top ranking Ursuline. The SHEDI swimmers placed 2nd out of 9 teams to Ursuline with a very close score of 368-352.5. Top place finishers included 8th grader Taylor McClung placing 6th in the 500 yard freestyle and 11th grader Alexia Boumis who was a member of the 3rd place 200 Free Style Relay and 3rd place 400 freestyle relay. The girls went above and beyond their coaches expectations. Congratulations to all swimmers.

The SHEDI swim team ended their regular season with a win yesterday at the EF pool beating the White Plains Tigers with a score of 86-77. Thank you very much to all the parents and supports who showed up to cheer on the team! Good luck to the SHEDI swimmers competiting in the Divisional championships tomorrow at New Rochelle High School starting at 4pm…..including Senior Kerry Oliveira, Junior Alexia Boumis, Sophmore Maddy McGovern, and 8th graders Taylor McClung and Alyssa Delmonaco.

The SHEDI swim team faced Division 1 undefeated Rye yesterday at Marymount college in a “challenge” dual meet. After several canceled swim meets, SHEDI picked up this meet with of the strongest teams in Section 1 to challenge themselves and to try and get personal best times for our Divisional championships this coming Saturday October 23rd. Although SHEDI lost the meet 70-94, it was a great opportunity for the team and many girls swam well. Please come out and support the swim team this Thursday, October 21st as we take on the White Plains Tigers in our last home “SENIOR” meet starting at 4:30pm.
