Sleepy Hollow Athletics Home of the Horsemen

On Wednesday May7th the Horsemen Tennis Team played Ramapo again and it was the closest match the whole year. Jesse Humm took an amazing win against a very strong opponent winning 6-2, 7-6. Ben Hofling played a grueling match winning 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. Ben Schmuckler played strong, winning 6-3, 6-4. Cody Hume and Ronnie Bucci lost a challenging match 6-2, 6-3. Harley Falasca and Tyler O’Donnell lost 6-1, 6-4. Jake Rosen and Matt Hammer had an extremely nerve racking and intense match, it came down to them to win the match, but unfortunately they lost 0-6, 7-5, 6-1. Charles Kress and John Sampaio took a hard lose 6-0, 6-1. Sleepy hollow lost as a team 3-4 to Ramapo who is now tied for first in the league. Tomorrow divisionals are in Pearl River beginning at 1pm and we would love your support.

On Tuesday, May 6th the Sleepy Hollow Tennis team faced Ramapo, who we haven’t faced all year due to weather interruptions. Jesse Humm took a hard loss losing 6-2, 6-2. Ben Hofling had a tough match winning 4-6, 6-1 and then 10-8 in a super tiebreaker, defeating his opponent who hasn’t lost the whole year. Ben Schmuckler played 3rd singles and easily deafeated his opponent 6-3, 6-0. Jake Von Heill and Cody Hume lost a challenging match 6-0, 6-1. 2nd singles was played by Harley Falasca and Tyler O’Donnell, who lost 6-1, 6-3. John Sampaio and Matt Hammer had a slump and lost 6-1, 6-0. We were lacking players so we had to forfeit 4th doubles. Sleepy Hollow lost 5-2 as a team. We face Ramapo again on Wednesday, May 7th at home. Come and watch your Horsemen tennis team get revenge.

On Monday, May 5th the Sleepy Hollow tennis team faced Spring Valley and the results went our way. Last time we met we beat them as a team 5-2 and this time we had intentions of doing even better. Jesse Humm lost a hard match at 1st singles to the #1 kid in the division 6-1, 7-5. Ben Hofling played second singles defeating his opponent 6-2 6-3. Ben Schmuckler played 3rd singles easily won 6-2, 6-1. Our 1st double team, Codi Hume and Ronnie Bucci had a grueling match just pulling out to win 7-6, 7-6. 2nd doubles Jake Rosen and Matt Hammer had no competition and easily took the win 6-0, 6-1. Sleepy Hollow’s 3rd doubles team consists of two 8th graders Harley Falasca and Tyler O’Donnell who have proven themselves worthy of the varsity level wining today 6-0, 6-3. Last but not least John Sampaio and Charles Kress defeated their 4th double opponents 6-1, 6-1. Come and watch are next home match on  Wednesday, May 7th against Ramapo.

On Monday, April 7th Sleepy Hollow played an outstanding match, shutting out Pearl River 7-0. Not only did Sleepy Hollow shut them out but Albertus Magnus did not even win a set. Outstanding matches were played by first singles player Jesse Humm, who won 6-2, 6-4. Both second and third singles players Ben Schmuckler and Ben Hoflng had great matches as well winning 6-1,6-4. Our first and second doubles Jake Rosen and Jake VonHeill, and Ron Bucci and Cody Hume were on fire winning 6-1,6-1. Lastly our third and fourth doubles consisting of Harley Falasca and Tyler O’Donnell, and Matt Hammer and John Sampaio had strong matches as well defeating Albertus Magnus 6-3, 6-4. Our next match is on Friday, April 11th at Spring Valley.

OnTuesday, May 1st the boys’ tennis team lost a close match against Ramapo with all the maches going 3 sets. 

 On Wednesday, May 2nd we won against Pearl River and improved to 4-2 on the season.

On Monday, April 30th the boys’ tennis team won its third straight match against Albertus Magnus, 6-1.  Great play by the entire team.  Our next match is on Tuesday, May 1st against Ramapo at Pierson Park.

On Tuesday, April 24th the boys’ tennis team won its 2nd match against Pearl River 5-2 with wins from singles players Dan Capo and Andrew Kaplan and doubles partners Josh Hammer, Jesse Humm, Cody Hume, Jake Rosen, Ben Hofling and Ben Schmuckler.

On Monday, April 23 the boys’ tennis team won its first match of the season by the score of 4-3.  Great matches came from singles players Brad Becker-Parton and Andrew Kaplan, and doubles partners Ben Hofling and Ben Schmuckler and Jesse Humm and Josh Hammer.
