On Thursday, September 22nd, the JV Volleyball team improved its record to 3 – 1 by defeating Hastings. Filling in for an ailing starter, Rosani Jiminez, helped the team with her energy and positive attitude. The team got off to a strong start in set 1 behind the serves of junior captain Skarlen Valentin and freshmen Xiara Rodriguez. Sleepy Hollow won the first set 25 – 14. In game 2, libero Shaylin Best’s serve was virtually unstoppable as she recorded 12 points from her serves. The two freshmen setters, Johanna Cepeda and Maggie Miles, provided their usual toughness and leadership on the court. The fledgling volleyball team has only two returning players and ten new players, nine of whom are freshmen. This young group is determined and dedicated, notching wins against Mamaroneck HS and Woodlands HS. The JV team faces Mount Vernon HS on Tuesday, September 27th.
