The varsity softball team with a line-up of 2 juniors, 2 sophomores,  3 freshmen, 2 eighth graders and a seventh grader played an outstanding game in a 4 - 0 lost to powerhouse Eastchester in their first round of sectionals.  The Bucci sisters (Jessica, a freshmen and Jamie, a seventh grader) had one hit each.  Eighth grader, Cassandra Torres, showed great maturity, pitching a seven hitter with 5 strikeouts.  Juniors Allaire Primiano and Danielle Fanelli did outstanding jobs leading the young team and played incredible defense.

Congratulations to the remainder of the team members; Deanne Lindsay, Olga Thomas, Kathy Perez, Nikki Schoen, and Brittany Brand.  The future looks bright for Sleepy Hollow softball.

Congratulations and thank you to the incredible coaching consisting staff of: Ms German, assistant varsity, Mr. Spirelli and Ms. Bellantoni, coaches of the much improved first year JV team, and Ms. Cincotta and Mr. Schwartz, coaches of the very successful, one loss, modified team.

The Horsemen finish the season 6-3: Beat Edgemont 5-2

On the final day of the season, Friday May 25th, the Horsemen (6-3) were faced with two tough opponents; the Edgemont Panthers and the heat.  By the end of the day, neither one got the best of the Horsemen as they cruised to a dominant 5-2 victory over Edgemont.  It was a slow played game, but one that concluded with the Horsemen victorious for the 6th time this season.

The season was highlighted by some stellar play by the Horsemen captains John Michael Bogusz, Jorge Berenguer, Tim Rachlin, Mike Segarra, and fellow 8th graders Jay Ramirez, Chris Diaz, Tom Carraro, Emmanual Cruz, Jimmy Bender and Brandon Patino.  To make the future for our program even brighter is the development of our 7th grade talent: Kyle McGovern, LJ Garrant, Jack Centra, Tom Fanelli, Matt Cassarin, Alex Mendonca, Christian Zhinin, Gabe Palacios, and Will Kelly.

This season marked the first time in recent memory that the Horsemen finished a season with a winning record, a .667 winning percentage (which is currently better than the NY Yankees).  The future is bright for the Sleepy Hollow Lacrosse program.  Good luck to all modified Horsemen.  Keep up the hard work.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 6-3 RECORD

GO HORSEMEN!

The Horsemen lockup a winning record; Beat Croton-Harmon 4-2, May 23rd

The young Horsemen (5-3) team locked up their first winning record in recent memory with a dominant performance over Croton-Harmon.  Again, the horsemen team suited only 15 players due to a school field trip, still had the heart and attitude to take on a larger team.

The game was back and fourth the entire time, until 8th grade goalie Jay Ramirez stepped up and stopped 2 close range shots.  “Jay became a goalie today!  He is really learning how to lead the team, and pull his weight” said coach Veintimilla.  “Yeah, Jay was good today!” added team manager Christian Berenguer.  The Horsemen offense rewarded Jay’s hard work with 4 goals on the day.

The Horsemen look to close out their season at home on Friday against a tough Edgemont team.  Join us as we try to secure a 6-3 record on the season.

The Horsemen jump back into the Win column; 5-2 vs. Hastings, May 21st

The Horsemen (4-3) traveled to Hastings on Monday with only 12 active players; many players having to miss the game due to prior commitments.  Going up against a Hastings team that had 32 active players, the day looked like it might be long for the Horsemen.  After giving up the 1st goal of the game, the Horsemen countered with 4 consecutive goals to put their lead to 4-1.  7th grader Kyle McGovern had many opportunities for his first career goal.  He made due on that by scoring the teams 4th goal of the day on a great bounce shot.  LJ Garrant, John Michael Bogusz, Jorge Berenguer, and Tim Rachlin each added a goal.

The Horsemen close out their season with home games on Wednesday vs. Croton-Harmon, and Friday vs. Edgemont.  Join us as we try to lock up our first winning season in many years.

Modified Lacrosse vs. Pleasantville; Lose 12-4, May 15, 2007

The modified lacrosse team lost their third straight game to a very experienced Pleasantville team.  At the end of the 1st period, the Horsemen were losing 4-0.  The 2nd quarter began with a barrage of shots, leading to 3 consecutive goals by John Michael Bogusz (2), and Jorge Berenguer.  The Horsemen pulled to within 4-3 midway through the 2nd quarter, but a strong Pleasantville team took over.  The final score was 12-4, another Sleepy Hollow loss.   The Horsemen look to bounce back on Monday May 21st at Hastings.

Modified Lacrosse vs. Westlake; Lose 9-2, April 14, 2007

The modified boy’s lacrosse team (3-2) visited Westlake and came back on the wrong side of a 9-2 score.  The Horsemen played a very physical game, but just couldn’t keep up with a fast paced Westlake team.  The horsemen travel to Pleasantville next week.
