Modified Field Hockey

Modified Field Hockey, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - In their final home game, the Sleepy Hollow Middle School Field Hockey team defeated Croton Middle School 3-0. The final game will be played against Hendrick Hudson at Blue Mountain Middle School on Thursday, November 1st.

Modified Volleyball

The Girls Volleyball Team trampeled Mamaroneck on Tuesday, October 30th winning all 3 games. Rallying for points with great serves were Marina Tramontelli and Abbey Titcomb. Key plays were made by Alina Tolentino, Roslyn Glover and Genesis Martinez. VERY WELL DONE LADIES! Come out for our last game of the season as we take on Hastings on Thursday, November 1st at home at Washington Irving.

The Lady Horsemen Modified Volleyball Team stunned Westlake when they took all 3 games on Monday, October 29th. The girls really hustled for the ball and we had incredible serving by Abbey Titcomb. Also making key plays were Kerry Evans, Michaela Smith, Leidy Suero and Emily Geiger. The entire team shined with Horseman Pride - well done!  Come out and support the girls’ volleyball team as we take on Mamroneck on Tuesday, October 30th at home at Washington Irving.

Varsity Boys’ Soccer

Congratulations to the Boys’ Varsity soccer team for defeating #7 seeded Eastchester 2-1 to advance to the Quarterfinals of the Sectional Tournament on Tuesday, October 30th at Lakeland. The win came with a goal from Jason Ruivo on an assist from Chris Coronel. The second came on a cross from Wilson Angamarca and a divinig header by Chris Coronel to put the Horsemen ahead with 18 minutes remaining. The Defense stayed strong and held off all of Eastchesters attacks to finalize the win.

In the tightest 2 games of the season, Sleepy Hollow lost to Ardsley 2 games to 1 on Friday, October 26th. Game 1 was 28-27 with Ardsley winning and Game 2 was 27-26 with Sleepy Hollow winning. Game 3 was taken by Ardsley as we had a tough time receiving their serve. The girls played awesome games with great plays and I am proud of their efforts. Earning key points through their serves were Abby Titcomb, Emily Geiger and Noeli Dominguez. Key plays during the game were also made by Kerry Evans and Marisa Barbera. Great team effort ladies! Lets get ready as we take on Westlake on Monday, October 29th at WI!

Modified Field Hockey, Tuesday, October 25, 2007 — The Sleepy Hollow Middle School Field Hockey team tied Irvington Middle School 1-1. The final home game will be played against Croton on Tuesday, October 30th.

Varsity Cross Country

Friday, October 26th, 2007

The Boys’ Cross Country team competed in the Wetschester County Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx yesterday. Will McCabe made it a claen sweep by placing first for the Horsemen in every meet this year. He had a personal best time of 15:29. BJ Lillis also ran a personal best time in 15:47. The Horsemen had a great season! Indoor track starts November 12th.

Despite great serving by Marina Tramontelli, Briggie Hinge and Leidy Suero, Sleepy Hollow lost 2-1 against Portchester on Wednesday, October 24th. The girls lost the first 2 games (one close game, one a not quite as close as we are used to), but pulled together for a win in the 3rd game - I continue to be proud of their efforts and hope to finish off our season with 4 more wins! Come out and join us as we take on:

Westlake, 10/29 - home
Mamaroneck - 10/30 - home
Hastings - 11/1 - home.

Modified Girls’ Soccer

On Wednesday, October 24th at Peabody field history was made. The Girls’ Modified Soccer Team, due to injury to one of their star defenders(Allegra Beals) played a girl down the whole game and defeated a tough, large in numbers Valhalla team 2-1. Julia Zallo and Madison Ortiz scored, and Jennifer Onwe made two unbelievable diving saves to preserve the victory. Cami Gonzalez, Maria Alverez and Alexandra Varela played solid from whistle to whistle. The team has their next game home on Tuesday, October 30th against a strong Pleasantville team at 4:30. We hope to see you there.

Varsity Swimming

The SHEDI swim team finished their regular season with an exciting win against John Jay East Fishkill on Tuesday, October 23rd at Marymount pool. It was a neck-in-neck fight from the very first event! SHEDI held a lead throughout the meet, but at times JJEF came within 4 points. It all came down to the 400 Free Relay and SHEDI had to take home first in order to clinch the meet. 8th grader Alexia Bomuis was part of that winning relay. 8th grader Amelia Bonvento swam the 100 butterfly, 10th grader Victoria Nadile competed in the 50 free, Megan Lindon improved her time in the 100 Fly, while freshman Kerry Oliveira swam the 200 IM and 100 Breastroke. Newcomers Maddy Mcgovern and Megan Copley swam the fly and free, and 8th grader Kristina Figueora swam the 50 fly in the 200 Medley Relay. The SHEDI team finished an impressive 5-4 for the season. SHEDI will be competiting at Purchase this Saturday in the Divisional Championships, starting at 3pm. Stay tuned for results!!
