Varisty Swimming

The SHEDI swim team is now 3-1 after taking charge of Yorktown in yesterday’s win. Alexia Boumis took first place in the 50 Free with a time of 27.89 and 2nd in the 100 freestyle, while Kerry Oliveira placed 2nd in the 100 Breast stroke. Congratulations at all SHEDI swimmers including Megan Lindon, Maddy McGovern, Kristina Figueroa, Danielle Carissimo, and Lily Sands. Keep the hard work up!! Our next meet is on Thursday, October 2nd vs. Clarkstown North at Felix Festa Middle School.

JV Field Hockey

On Monday, September 22nd the JV Field Hockey team played a great game against Pearl River. The final score was 3-2 Pearl River. Ashley Smutek and Krista Bucci scored the two goals for Sleepy Hollow. Go Hollow! Our next game is on Friday, October 3rd at home vs. Nanuet.

Varsity Cross Country

On Tuesday, September 23rd, the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed against Nanuet at Rockwood Hall. Will McCabe placed 1st for the Horsemen and 2nd overall. He broke the 19 minute barrier running 18:42. Christain Zolbe, Jake Von Heill, Alex Berger, and Hwa-Seung Erstling rounded out our top five. The boys ran great and most of them achieved personal records. Once again, Katherine Doyle dominated the competition. She placed 1st overall and broke her own course record by 30 seconds. It was a great day for Sleeply Hollow Cross Country. Our next meet is Thursday, October 2nd, at Rockwood Hall vs. Irvington. Come out and support the team.

Modified Boys’ Soccer

The Sleepy Hollow Boys’ Modified Soccer team opened its season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Solomon Schechter Middle School.  Although Sleepy Hollow fell behind early, Giancarlo Nobrega scored the game-tying goal on an excellent cross from Nick Sarris.  Goalkeeper Nathanael Christian kept Sleepy Hollow in the game with several acrobatic saves and the defense, led by Jason Valero, played shutout ball for the last 57 minutes of the game.  Other noteworthy performances were put in by Kevin Ortiz, Tom Pardo, Fabio Chimbo, and Ben Tschan.  Our next game is on Wednesday, September 24th at Dobbs Ferry.

Varsity Girls’ Soccer

GO GIRLS SOCCER!
Girls varsity soccer defeats Hastings (4-3)
Hollow captures their first league win on Monday September 22nd against Hastings in a true nail biter. At the half Hastings led the game 3-2. Sleepy capitalized immediately in the second half with a goal by junior Taylor Greenberg. Senior Captain Cathy Garro scores on an awesome penalty shot with seconds to go in the game. Additional goals for Sleepy were scored by junior Alexis Bateman, assisted by Jamie Bucci and Cathy Garro, assisted by Jamie Bucci. The lady Horsemen’s record is 4-3. Our next game is against rival Albertus Magnus on Wednesday September 24th away.

The Horsemen Varsity Field Hockey team advanced their record to 2-1-4 with a win over Pearl River at home by a score of 1-0.  The winning goal was scored by Leah Morales with a rebound off the goalie pads.  Chelsea Keeney had 2 saves and Daniela Uribe played well in goal.  The team played outstanding together and truly demonstrated their ability to play at a higher level.  All around everyone played an outstanding game.  Sleepy Hollow will face Irvington Wednesday, September 24th at home at 4:15pm.

The SHEDI swim team is now 2-1 after a tough loss to Ardsley yesterday 96-74. The second half of the meet brought SHEDI within 8 points, but Ardsley pulled away with a 1st and 2nd place finish in the last race of the meet. Kerry Oliveira had a great swim in the 100 breast and finished 3rd. Come on down to Marymount as SHEDI takes on Yorktown, 4:30pm start on Wenesday, September 24th.

Modified Volleyball

In our season opener, the Lady Horsemen defeated Solomon Schecter 2 games to 1. Great serving by Stephanie Klami, Ellen Glover, Claire Royston, Briggie Hinge and Marisa Barbera. Great passing by Kimberly Quispe, Abby Titcomb and Alex kendrick. It was a great team effort overall and everyone really hustled - nice job ladies! Come out and support the lady Horseman at their first home game this Wednesday, September 24th at WI.

On Friday September 19th the JV Field Hockey team ended a game in a draw for the first time! Barbara Good scored the only goal to even the score with Pelham. The final score was 1 to 1. Every player gave her best! Our next game is on Monday, September 22nd at home vs Pearl River.

Congratulations to the boys’ jv soccer team with their victories over Hastings and Nanuet this weekend. That’s four straight wins in a row! Looking forward to making it five on Tuesday, September 23rd at Irvington. Goals were scored this weekend by Tim Rachlin, Brandon Patino, TJ Kent and a hat trick by Michael Diaz. Lets go Hollow!
