Sleepy Hollow Athletics Home of the Horsemen

The Modified Girls’ Soccer team enjoyed a very successful season. We were fortunate enough to have thirty-six girls on the team, many playing soccer for the first time and all getting a chance to experience game play. We ended up having a record of: six wins, two losses and two ties. Congratulations go out to all the girls for all their hard work and dedication to the team throughout the season. I am happy to say that all the girls have improved their knowledge and skills in the game of soccer. The future looks great for our Girls’ Soccer Program.

The Sleepy Hollow Middle School Field Hockey team was defeated by Irvington 3-1. The final game will be played on Thursday at home against Bronxville.

Sleepy Hollow JV Boys’ Soccer beat Irvington 6-3 on Monday, October 27th. The last game of the season was ended on a positive note with goals scored by TJ Kent, Brandon Patino, John Michael Bogusz, Mark Sanchez, Carlos Uyaguari, and last but not least, Edwin Zhinin! Thank You boys for a great season!

The Sleepy Hollow Lady Horsemen ended their season on a high note on Monday, October 27th by defeating Hasting in all 3 games. Every player contributed with great serves, great passing and hard work. I am so very proud of these girls and hope you will congratulate them on a great season. It has been an honor to coach these girls and I hope to see the 7th graders back next year and I can’t wait to see the 8th graders move up to JV (and maybe Varsity!) next year. Go Hollow! Thanks everyone for all your support!

The Sleepy Hollow Middle School Field Hockey team was defeated by Harrison 4-0. The next game will be played on Monday, October 27th at home against Irvington.

The SHEDI swim team ended their regular season with an exciting meet against White Plains on Monday, October 27th. It all came down to the last relay and SHEDI managed to hold onto their lead and took the meet 93-90. They finished the season with a dual meet record of 6-3. Congratulations to all SHEDI swimmers including Megan Lindon, Kerry Oliveira, Alexia Boumis, Kristina Figueroa, Maddy McGovern, Lily Sands, and Daniella Carissimo. Good luck to swimmers competiting in Sectionals next week.

 The Sleepy Hollow Boys’ Modified Soccer team played its strongest game of the season as it defeated Dobbs Ferry 3-0 at WI on Monday, October 27th.  The Horsemen played dominating defense led by goalkeeper Nathanael Christian, defenders Sebastian Ardaix, Marc Patino, and Christian Jumbo.  The goals were scored by Chris Loja, Favio Chimbo, and Tom Pardo.  Strong midfield play by Jack Schnog and Chris Lazo helped keep Dobbs Ferry out of the defensive zone and off the scoreboard.  The team is now 3-4-2 with a very strong chance to pull to finish with a winning season against Irvington and Hasting later this week.

Our match on Thursday, October 23rd against Dobbs Ferry was our toughest competition yet. Depsite giving it a great effort, our girls fell short. The Lady Horsemen rallied in game 3 with great serving and passing by Emily Geiger and Marisa Barbera, but we came up short. Hope everyone can join us on Friday, October 24th for our final home game against Ardsley. Thanks again for all your support of this team.

On Thursday, October 23rd the boys’ and girls’ Cross Country teams participated in the Westchester County Championships. Will McCabe led the way for boys breaking 15 minutes for the 2.5 mile course. Christian Zolbe and Jake Von Heill fought it out at the finish to go 2, 3 respectively for the Horsemen. Jake broke his previous personal record by over a minute and a half. Rounding out our top seven were; Alex Berger, Tom Von Heill, Hwa-Seung Erstling and Richie Doyle.

On the girls’ side, Katherine Doyle placed 18th out of a field of over 200 runners. She has a great shot to receive All-County Honors. Our next race is on Halloween, Friday, October 31st at Bowdoin Park. Come out and support the Cross Country team.
