Pencil Sharpener
Pencil Sharpener
A Personification Poem By Arianna and Payge
The pencil sharpener gulps up wood from the pencil.
YUM! YUM!
Pencil sharpener wants more. “I WANT MORE!”
The handle from the pencil sharpener rolls all around
Like a person somersaulting.
Pencil sharpener still isn’t full.
I shake and gobble up more pencil shavings.
YUM! YUM!
Now I am full… no more!
I spit it all out.

An Onomatopoeia Poem by Arianna
“Stomp, stomp” go the feet down the stairs to Mrs. G’s room.
“Quiet down, class has begun.” Mrs. G says.
“La, la, la” we start singing.
“Whoosh! Whoosh!”
We sing, “RESPECT” our concert song.
RED!
Lalalala…
The Ishangi Family
By Payge and Arianna
The main idea is about the favorite things of the Ishangi family and their people. The people balanced laundry on their heads. They are very good at balancing! We enjoyed the loud drums. They had lots of rhythm. They sang a song called Che Che Koolay. It is a good song about being thankful. The mom was talking to spirits. When the mother didn’t have energy the girl would dance and shake the maraca and the mother would get her energy from that. The mom was in a puffy African costume with a mask on to talk to spirits. The mom did cartwheels and tagged the girl and she did them.
We enjoyed the Ishangi family dancers from Ghana, Africa.
Wintertime is Here
Wintertime is Here
By Arianna
“Splat!”
A snowball goes whizzing through the air
and into my face
“Crasssh!” COLD!
Blizzard snow flies through the air
into my eyes
“aaaahhhh!”
“Mmmm…”
Hot chocolate goes swimming
through my mouth
into my belly.
“Smell that!”
Chocolate chip cookies
But it smells like vanilla too.
Whoa! Ice skating is hard!
“Kkkkkeeeee, wooosh, boom!”
“Oh no!”
The Polar Express
The Polar Express
Arianna’s Version
I heard a sound like a train and ran outside in my pajamas. I went inside the train and saw kids were inside. The train went through the woods and icy places. We reached the North Pole.
I saw elves marching in red suits. One of us will be picked by Santa! He finally picked me! I asked if I could have a suit like his but in a dress and he said yes and to have a great Christmas.
Then we all said goodbye. I was going through the icy places again. The ice started to break and then all of a sudden I was home again. THE END.

A Memoir by Arianna
On Thanksgiving my aunts and uncle came. It was also me and my mom and cousins. We cooked and we had a huge feast!
When I was cooking it smelled like turkey, cornbread and brownies in the kitchen.
My favorite food was the corn. It was awesome. I loved it.
I saw this table full of stuff! I almost wanted all of the food in one gulp! I tasted the muffins, corn, turkey, cornbread, and brownies.
There was lots of talking at the table. It was peaceful that day and I watched the parade. It was enjoyable.
I played outside with my cousins. We played games, soccer, jumprope, and chess and volleyball. We played so much it was exciting.
I went to sleep and dreamed about the next Thanksgiving.
