Stapler
Stapler
A Personification Poem By Lena and Samantha
“Click, click†goes the stapler
As it puts things together.
“Mmmm, I want to staple more!â€
It releases it’s babies,
“Bye bye babies, I will miss you!â€
Its mouth chews on paper corners.
BOOM! Goes the stapler like a person stamping.
“Munch, munch†don’t get near my teeth!

Clap, Clap goes Ms. Cristella
“Take out your word work notebook
and take home folder.â€
Stomp, stomp
go the students feet to their cubbbies.
Zip, Zip
Chatter, Chatter
Ms. Cristella reads a story.
Beep, beep
Mrs. Fischer calls, “Bus One is here.â€
Thump, thump
Feet in the hallways.
“All the buses have been called.
Teachers please bring your bus cards down.â€

Here’s the weather for today…
“It’s going to be a freezing day today.â€
“Aaaahh!†go the people when they see the camera.
Ishangi Dances
By Samantha, Leslie, Noel
We went to see the Ishangi family presentation. They showed us stories from Ghana by dancing. It was so exciting to see the laundry dance because a little girl had a giant laundry bag balanced on her head! I was wondering if it was heavy or not. During one song that same girl did flips and cartwheels. They sang Che Che Koolay and did a dance. Che Che Koolay means to thank God for food and for clothes and other things. They also taught us how to do the love and family dance. In the family dance they passed love energy on and a girl stood on top of a woman. In the food dance the girl acts like she’s passing out seeds and they grow. She danced with a plate. At the end, one of the Ishangi women gave us good advice how we should live our lives. The most important thing was to stay in school and listen to your mom and dad and teachers.

My Winter

Striped scarves- yellow and orange
Strips so fuzzy and warm.
T.V. Weathermen says what it is like outside,
“It is going to be freezing outside!â€
Hot, steaming matzo ball soup
Matzo balls in my mouth cooling off
So soft… “YUM!â€
Fresh enchiladas cheesy and spicy
but delicious!
Warm, hot pellets in my hand
stacked altogether and smooth
“crunch, crunch.â€
The Polar Express
The Polar Express
Samantha’s Version
I was in my bed when I heard a whistle and saw smoke. I got my slippers on and tiptoed out the door. I saw a man. He said, “All Aboard!†I wasn’t so sure if I should go on. But then I asked where they were going. “We are going to the North Pole,†he said. So I thought. “Hmmm†But then I went on.
I saw lots of kids. They were serving ginger tea with a gingerbread cookie. I saw little things that looked like a little dot. But when we got closer they got bigger. Then we saw Santa!
He was going to pick the first kid to get a present. He picked another kid. I was so mad. But he picked me for the second kid. I felt a little better. Then we went on the train to go home. When it was my stop I went in my bed and had happy dreams all night. THE END.

A Memoir by Samantha
One day my Mom and Dad said that we were going to Disney World. “Aaaahh! Yippee! Yippee!†I was so excited.
When we got there it was 4:00 but my Dad said that we should go shopping and we went. I saw a bunch of keychains. My Mom and Dad said that I could have one.
It was hard picking just one! Then I saw a perfect one! It has the Cinderella castle and Mickey Mouse on it!
After, we went to the car. When I tried to close the door I rolled out and then I lost my keychain. “I am so mad!†I said. But my Mom said that she would buy a new one!
She bought me one and I was so happy. It was the same one. I was so lucky!
My sister also had one. It has Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Pluto, and Donald Duck and Daisy. My brother had a skeleton from the Pirates of the Caribbean.
But I love my keychain best of all!
