April is poetry month! We were introduced to poetry at the end of March when we had the poet, Ted Scheu, come to our school. He not only inspired us to read and write poems, but he also came into our class and taught us about a specific type of poem called a simile. We learned that a simile uses the words, “like†or “as†to compare things. We wrote “I…†poems to compare ourselves to different things. We hope you enjoy them!
We are pleased and excited to share our, “In The Mirror,” poems with you. We started these poems when the poet, Ted Scheu, came to John Paulding to inspire and teach us about poetry. He taught us about similes and then had us create our own. He did this by giving each of us a mirror and had us write about the characteristics we saw. Then, he had us compare those characteristics to something they reminded us of. We published our poems and finally recorded them so we could share them with you! We would like to again, extend our thanks to Ted Scheu and The Foundation for providing us the opportunity to have our poems come to life!
