Insiprational Poetry!

John Paulding was recently visited by Ted Scheu a professional poet. Ted did a super presentation for all the students and then visited classrooms to work directly with our first graders. He taught the students about similes and metaphors, pretty big concepts for first graders! He then inspired them to use like and as in their own poetry. The students each completed the poems they started with Ted. We edited them for 3- 5 words we knew were spelled incorrectly, read them to buddies, and Mrs. Chulla & Ms. Bart (our student teacher) typed them. They are posted here for all to see! We hope you enjoy them!

You can visit Ted Scheu’s website at www.poetryguy.com

The children at John Paulding were recently visited by poet, Ted Scheu.  Ted worked with each class talking about writing poetry.  He led the students in writing their own In the Mirror poem.  We edited those poems and are publishing them here for all to see!  Notice the students use of similes…yet again, it is hard to believe they are first graders!!!  We are so proud!  Enjoy!
