Blogging Responsibly and Purposefully
As we continue to explore the benefits of Web 2.0 applications for our students, it is important that we provide the proper level of professional support to our teachers. This includes modeling best practices and providing a framework for purposeful use. There is the potentional for a flashpoint with regard to blogging, so it is important that we are proactive in this area. The following article is informative and will be useful to us as we prepare our new technology plan and corresponding acceptable use policy.

Hi John,
That is a great article! It is exciting to watch districts that have already embraced the Web 2.0. I want to follow Maybry more closely, perhaps RSS some of the more active Teacher bloggers there. I liked Warlick’s point that we should revisit the Acceptable Use Policy to reflect the read/write web. This is a natural step but one I didn’t think about.
You had mentioned that First Class has a RSS reader. This might be a good way to introduce staff to RSS and the practice of following web content.
