Having an Internet Safety page is a great idea. I think many parents don't know where to begin and a resource like this would be a very welcome start. I came across a great page that can contribute to this effort. You may already know about it, but Internet 101 is a good gateway for internet safety awareness.

Looking forward to the safety page!

I was unable to attend the second meeting also because I was asked to participate in some training at the High School. I look forward to the next step which is I guess to begin designing questions for a survey of sorts if I read the summary right?

I am sorry that I missed that meeting. I can see that it is important to have a plan in place that keeps up with the pace because it is moving at a magnificent clip. I hope that we will find ways for us to utilize the beautiful lab consistenly at Morse; some of these second graders really know a lot. On the otherhand, there are a slew who are just getting familiar. Having them become familiar and comfortable around the computer is key and it can only get better from there.

Hi John,

That is a great article! It is exciting to watch districts that have already embraced the Web 2.0. I want to follow Maybry more closely, perhaps RSS some of the more active Teacher bloggers there. I liked Warlick’s point that we should revisit the Acceptable Use Policy to reflect the read/write web. This is a natural step but one I didn’t think about.

You had mentioned that First Class has a RSS reader. This might be a good way to introduce staff to RSS and the practice of following web content.
