My Trip to Brazil – Owen

As I sat in the car two days before our flight, I thought to myself about what my trip might be like, fortunately, in this essay I have written about what actually happened, not what I thought would happen.

We boarded the plane the day after Christmas in Newark, New Jersey and the weather was extremely cold and gray. We disembarked from the plane 10 hours later and were almost blinded by the heat and beauty of Sao Paulo. All in all, we waited in line for two hours in customs and immigration. …read more

My Ideal Holiday – Zach

I woke up realizing that I only had to wait two more days until Christmas! I was ecstatic to visit my grandparent’s home, to watch their excited faces, when I surprised them with over 10 gifts. In addition, there was a huge amount of shiny snow, gleaming in the sun. I eagerly waited for the time that I could finally sled down the hill. …read more

My Holiday – Aaron

Half aware that it’s Christmas Eve, I arise out of bed reluctantly because I fell asleep late last night, or was it this morning. The big picture was that I was exhausted.

I slide down the railing expecting to hear my mom cooking breakfast or Kristen watching T.V. (My dad was working on his brief). However, it was as silent as a summer night in Vermont until my gigantic dog, Soprano purrs like a tame tiger when I stroke his snow white mane. After petting Soprano for several minutes, I drift over to my shoes…. no point wearing heavy snow boots when it’s “ice world” outside. …read more

My Ideal Holiday – Taylor

When I first awoke to the sweet smell of fresh nature pinecones and the chocolate scent of freshly wrapped Hershey’s candy coming from the large burgundy dining room, I knew it was Christmas. The house was meticulous with everything in place, including the table setting -blue china plates with stainless steel knives, forks and spoons. We were all set to eat scrumptious Chicken Francese with lemon zest, penne a la vodka and delectable orange spice pumpkin pie for dessert.  …read more

My Christmas – Samantha

Christmas Eve – it was cold and dark  and I held the delicate snowball in my bare hands. As I was about to throw it,  my sister’s tomato red face popped out in front of me and  hit me with her snowball. When my skin made contact with the cold snow, I shivered as it slid down my sleeve. I fell to the ground as the snow continued to fall on my cold face. …read more

My Ideal Holiday – Guillermo

During my wonderful and tantalizing holiday vacation, I have been ecstatic being around my loved ones, opening incredibly wrapped presents, and finally counting down to the new and hopefully best year, 2008.

Nine Days of Praying
Before my joyful holiday vacation, I, and my closest Ecuadorian family and friends prayed for one to two hours for nine days for the coming birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve. As you can see, my family is very religious. During these nine sacred days I became closer to my Lord, Jesus Christ, and learned that Christmas isn’t just about outstanding, breathtaking presents, but the birth of our Savior. …read more

Christmas – Jon

In the past, my father and I would go shopping for the upcoming Christmas holiday. We would just go by ourselves with nobody else, not even his other wife. I know you might be thinking why I mentioned his other wife. The truth is that my parents are divorced but that is irrelevant to this subject. …read more

BEEP, BEEP,BEEP” my alarm rang as I rushed out of bed, quickly got dressed and ran downstairs. My parents were already up making themselves coffee for the long plane ride. My Ideal Christmas – Pedro

Every Christmas I have celebrated has been terrific. Although the best Christmas would be when I celebrate it the way that I would enjoy it.
It would all start as soon as I awoke from a wonderful dream about the next day, Christmas. I would enjoy a delectable breakfast of pancakes with some fruit and orange juice. I would also appreciate it if my parents would sit down and eat with me. For the rest of the afternoon, I would spend my time outside playing with my friends on the soft white snow at the park. Afterwards, I would return to my house for a cup of hot cocoa with some marshmallows in it. …read more

I would imagine my ideal Christmas, waking up to a vibrantly decorated house with colorful lights and the smell of sweet, fluffy pancakes cooking. When I wake up, I go straight to my brother’s room to wake him up so we can open our presents and eat our huge Christmas breakfast, which consists of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hot blueberry muffins fresh out of the oven. “Yummy!” …read more

My Dream Holiday – Hayley

I’ve already had the best holiday I could possibly imagine, but I also have a different perspective of what I consider to be an equally fantastic holiday.           My dream holiday would be a trip to Maine with my entire family, including my grandpas, my aunts and uncles, and my cousins. To me, Maine is one of the most beautiful places in the world and one of the best places to bond with your family. As usual, my family would drive northwards separately in cars to this alluring state.  …read more

My Ideal Christmas – Lily

One of my favorite Christmases took place when I was five. Despite the fact that it was years ago, I can remember it almost as if it were yesterday.

The car ride to my grandparents’ house was long and tedious. It took five hours and back then, I could hardly even read. We did listen to some books on tape but most of the time I just stared out the window, watching the scenery go by.            …read more

My Ideal Holiday by Sam

The day started as I awakened to the smell of crisp bacon crackling in the kitchen. I quickly got dressed and then wandered towards the tantalizing smell.   I stumbled down the hall into my delicious-smelling kitchen to find my family. My brother’s eyes were glued to the tiny, flashing screen on his jet-black DS.  I observed my mom cooking her famous waffles and my dad frying crispy bacon.   I greeted them and asked if we could open our Christmas presents (which were in our beautiful living room by the way). They responded, “No” and said we had to wait for my grandparents to wake up. I groaned deeply but sat down to eat nonetheless.   I thought the waffles were delicious as I bit into a syrup-bathed piece. The bacon was also delectable, nice and crispy, just the way I like it!   Near the end of our feast, we heard a “creak” on the stairs and were surprised to see my grandparents.   We hugged my tall grandpa and my shorter but still tall, grandma.   At first, my brother and I made small talk, but then we blurted out, “Can we open the gifts now!?”   Everyone stared at us ominously as if we had five heads!   After an awkward pause, my humorous father broke the silence, “Sounds good to me!” …read more

My Ideal Holiday – John Claude

Waking up on Tuesday morning, smelling vibrant flowers blooming towards the sky, I yelled like the roar of a lion, “It’s Christmas day.” Springing down to my fabulous Christmas tree that resembled a lit angel, I shredded the wrapping paper off my gifts. I received a Super Smash Brothers video game that had not even been released yet. Even better, a whole toy store of gifts was under my tree.

Hours later, I heard a joyful ring at my door. I immediately opened it and my relatives from Lebanon entered my home. …read more

My Holiday 2006 – Manisha

“Beep! Beep! Beep!” rang my annoying blue alarm clock, as I woke up to the sound of it. I quickly noticed the date on my orange calendar and observed that is was officially the 25th of the cold and windy month of December. “Christmas tree, here I come!” I thought in my mind.           I quickly jumped out of bed and rushed down the wooden stairs, as if I were a robber trying to surreptitiously escape with money from the bank. I, myself, was quite surprised that I could have this much energy, since I am extremely indolent and languid in the morning, unwilling to wake up. …read more

My Ideal Christmas – K.T.

“Ding, dong, dang, ding.” I woke up on Christmas morning to the sound of joyous bells ringing in the distance as flurries of snow made the morning air shimmer and shine. A red cardinal flew by with an evergreen, pine branch in its beak, chirping as if to say, “Merry Christmas to all!” …read more

My Ideal Holiday – MacKenzie

I will wake up, excited on Christmas eve to find puffy, white, snowflakes swirling outside my window. They make detailed, delicate, patterns of frost on the cold, transparent glass. My warm, quick breath fogs up the view and melts the lacy doily of ice. I exuberantly throw back the gauzy, white curtains, open the window and stick my head out to catch some of the lazily drifting flakes on my tongue. The tiny bits of ice land on my face and freeze onto my eyebrows and lashes making my pale cheeks flush a rosy red and my breath freezes in the snowy air. …read more
