My Dream Holiday - Hayley

I’ve already had the best holiday I could possibly imagine, but I also have a different perspective of what I consider to be an equally fantastic holiday.           My dream holiday would be a trip to Maine with my entire family, including my grandpas, my aunts and uncles, and my cousins. To me, Maine is one of the most beautiful places in the world and one of the best places to bond with your family. As usual, my family would drive northwards separately in cars to this alluring state.          Once we arrived, I would love to stay in a vacation house out in the woods. From the outside it would look like a cabin, but from the inside it would resemble a regular suburban home. There would be a room for everyone. I would particularly enjoy sharing a room with my five cousins. Together we would experience enjoyment and laughter.          On Christmas morning I would desire to wake up to the smell of fresh pinecones outside my window and the smell of delectable Snicker doodles just waiting to be eaten. As early as it would probably be in the morning, I would wake up my cousins and we would rush out into the living room where we had decorated the magnificent gleaming pine tree. Waiting for our family to awaken, we would carefully examine each present to see which ones were ours. After what would seem to be a long period of time, we would become quite impatient, and open our relative’s doors urging them to come out.          While opening presents, I would expect to see wrapping paper lying over the entire floor. One of the best parts of opening the presents besides receiving gifts would be to see the smiles on my family’s faces when they see the gifts I presented to them. Some of my presents would be gift cards for all different stores because I absolutely love shopping, and of course, all varieties of candy because I’m called a “sweet tooth.” Lastly, I’d desire a manicure kit to polish my nails.          Throughout Christmas day, I would accompany my parents to my favorite hiking trail in Acadia, the one that leads to a stunning beach that has a view of the ocean. I would also walk to the beach with my cousins. Obviously, we wouldn’t swim in the freezing cold water. Instead we would just relax on the sand. At night, once again, my entire family would dine at my favorite seafood restaurant right next to the beach. For my meal I would have hot, steamy clam chowder for an appetizer, and then eat off my parent’s plates consisting of buttery lobster and crumbly rolls. For dessert we would have Maine’s famous hot blueberry pie with a scoop of cold vanilla ice cream. That night I would fall asleep content, anticipating what the next day will bring.  I wouldn’t just leave after two days from one of my favorite places in the world. Throughout our remaining time there I would go whale watching on a fabulous boat, climb down to the cliffs where the waves splash and fly over our heads, and finally participate in some junior ranger programs.          A couple of days before I return to school, my family would pack up our belongings, say goodbye, and sadly head towards home. If that holiday were real, it would be the best time of my life.
