My Holiday 2006 - Manisha

“Beep! Beep! Beep!” rang my annoying blue alarm clock, as I woke up to the sound of it. I quickly noticed the date on my orange calendar and observed that is was officially the 25th of the cold and windy month of December. “Christmas tree, here I come!” I thought in my mind.           I quickly jumped out of bed and rushed down the wooden stairs, as if I were a robber trying to surreptitiously escape with money from the bank. I, myself, was quite surprised that I could have this much energy, since I am extremely indolent and languid in the morning, unwilling to wake up.         I quickly and quietly moved through the small rooms, trying to spot the white room with the vibrantly decorated Christmas tree. Within a couple of seconds, I found myself standing in the medium sized living room, hoping to receive my desired presents.     There were presents of all sizes, some as small as glasses, and others as large as TVs. Each of the presents was uniquely wrapped in its own style of colorful wrapping paper. I was eager to open them all. Suddenly I heard the heavy pounding of footsteps coming closer to this room.         I was about to open a baby blue wrapped present, until my cousin came rushing into the white room. “Breakfast, remember?” he quickly said to me. I had forgotten all about the breakfast we had planned for the rest of the family. My cousin and I were going to prepare a homemade breakfast made by –us! Since we could not afford a single present for everyone, we decided that his would be our special gift to them.         I reluctantly I left the living room with all of the vividly colored gifts untouched.    I rushed over to the black and white kitchen. It took us about half an hour to cook up a delectable breakfast, which we hoped everyone in the family would enjoy. We set up the brown, wooden table with a clear, white tablecloth, which had little white, frosted snowmen decorating the border. We displayed the clean Lenox china plates. We served the mouth watering breakfast; golden soft pancakes, sunny-side eggs, brown crispy bread, orange tangy juice, and colorful mixed up fruit salad. After 10 tedious minutes, we were finally done.         “Finally, I can open my presents!” I thought in my mind, as I walked over to the beautifully holiday decorated Christmas tree. I took out the blue snowman wrapped gift, and noticed that the gift was from my parents. As I tore open the ocean blue wrapping paper, at the corner of my brown eye, I saw my cousin joining in and starting to open his medium size present.         I again started to hear heavy footsteps; however this time, the pounding steps were coming closer to this room. As my younger brother came running into the room, we knew it was disaster time.         Every Christmas my younger brother is always eager to open all of the presents, under the tree. We quickly back out of the way, so he won’t yell at us. He ran straight towards the tree and opened all the presents.         At around 10:30, am our indolent parents came down. We surprised them with the delectable cooked breakfast; however, we had to warm-up all the tasty food again because it was cold.        We warmed up the food and put it on the clear white tablecloth again. Everyone took their seat at the rectangular, brown table. We all started to talk and share the wonderful presents we received.         At the end of the breakfast, we knew our meal was a hit because everyone gulped down the food and none of it was left over. We then cleared off the dishes, which was no fun to do on Christmas day.         We returned to the living room, the center of excitement.        As I opened the white curtain, I saw a blanket of white snow which used to be a lush vegetable filled garden. It felt as if the whole world were effaced from my sight. As the TV was turned on, my mind wandered back to the room. I knew that this amazing Christmas would be one that I would never forget.
