There is a mandatory LASO meeting today in room 312 West after 8th period.

Congratulations to the Sleepy Hollow Varsity Baseball team for capturing their 1st LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP in 35 years by defeating Dobbs Ferry 2-0. Alec Stoll pitched a 4 hit, 12 strikeout complete game to lead the Horseman to the Championship! Peter Pena and Inmer Rosado had and RBI each. The Horseman face Tappan Zee in their regular season final tomorrow at Tappan Zee.

The African-American Heritage Club will meet on Thursday at 3:05 pm in room 304East.

Attention Juniors Members of the English Honor Society: There will be a meeting on Monday, May 20th at 3:05 pm in 311 West. Attendance is expected. Any questions or conflicts please see Mrs. McChoi.

This Wednesday, May 15th, the 3rd Annual “Pony” Awards will be presented in the high school auditorium at 7:30. Come support the talented student actors who participated in the Fall Drama and Spring Musical.

Attention all track participants: Uniforms are due to Mrs. Hickey as soon as possible – please bring them to room 209W or place them labeled in her mailbox.

Announcements for Monday, Day 4

Attention all seniors: The final two (2) scholarships are posted in Guidance – they are the Puggiero Kelly Firefighters and Principia Green Award. Hurry they are due this Thursday to Guidance by 3:00PM. Good luck!

On Saturday, May 11th, the boys track team competed in the Rasbeck Relays. The relay team of Dante Ellis, John Lara Mota, Danny Elia and Will Stallings dominated all the sprint relays at the meet. They won the sprint medley relay, the 4×100 and the 4×200. They broke the school record in the sprint medley relay. In the 4×400, Nolan Samford had an outstanding anchor leg running 56.5 seconds and brought the team from 5th to 3rd place. Our next meet is Saturday, May 18th at Byram Hills HS. We will be competing in the Westchester County Championships.

Attention students who participated as writers or artists in the Profiles of the American Dream book project last year. There will be a book signing at the Warner Library on Thursday, May 16th between 4-6 PM. Please plan to attend! Also, if you are interested in being interviewed about the project for the digital news, please see Mrs. Langston ASAP!

Sleepy Hollow softball – Yesterday Sleepy Hollow beat Gorton 20 to 2. Sarah McCarthy, Skarlen Valentin and Jenny Bucci each had two hits. Sarah McCarthy, Jenny Bucci and Christine Greige combined to pitch a two hitter. Wednesday we are at Eastchester. Friday we are at home against Ardsley.

Annoucements for Monday, Day 5

Due to testing, the Library will be closed from 7:30 AM until at least 2:15 PM tomorrow, Tuesday May 7th.

On Saturday, May 4th, the boys and girls track teams competed at the Somers Invitational. Gabbi Maldonado had a fantastic day placing 2nd overall in both the 200m and 400m. Dante Ellis ran a personal best in the 100m and placed 4th overall. His time was 11.2. Danny Elia broke two sophomore records in the 400m and the 400 intermediate hurdles. He placed 5th overall in the 400m and 2nd overall in the hurdles. David Maldonado ran a personal best in the mile placing 2nd in class B. Our next meet is Saturday, May 10 at Irvington HS. We will be competing in the Doc Rasbeck Relays.

The defense lawyer cleverly refuted the evidence put forth by the prosecuting attorney at the Mock Trial tournament.

ATTENTION: STUDENTS in UPWARD BOUND- The registration form for Career Day at Brooklyn College on May 11th is due tomorrow by 12 noon. If you do not register you cannot attend.

Congratulations to the girls’ track team for their exceptional performance at yesterday’s league meet. Senior and captain, Daniella Carissimo, received all league honorable mention in both the 100 high hurdles and 400 hurdles. The girls 4 x 100 relay team, Cassidy Higgins, Madison Ortiz, Emily Geiger and Judgette Moen, also received all- league honorable mention. Great job by all athletes. Many athletes received their personal best in their event! Great job, Lady Horsmen!!

On Wednesday, May 1st, the boys competed in the League Championships at Irvington High School. Danny Elia had an outstanding day winning the 110 high hurdles, as well as the 400 intermediate hurdles. He received All-League honors in both events. David Maldonado placed 2nd in the 3200m and received All-League Honorable Mention. Will Stallings placed 2nd in the 100 and 200 and received All-League Honorable Mention. Dante Ellis placed 3rd in the 100m in a personal record time of 11.4. John Merheb had a huge throw of 116 feet 7 inches in the discus and placed 1st overall. He also received All-League for his efforts. More results to come because the meet has not concluded.

Yes, you may have heard people talking about this . . and its really happening!
Sleepy Hollow High School will host the Special Olympics on Saturday, May 18th, but we really, really need your help – We need volunteers to be “Buddies” with an athlete for the day. And yes, we will host over 500 athletes so guess what that means, we need about 500 of you to sign up – it is an honor to host these games and you will be honored to be a part of this amazing event.

“The ESL Club is hosting an Open Gym on Friday, April 26 from 3:15 to 5:15 in the Middle School Gym. The cost is $4 and includes two hours of sports, plus pizza and soda. You can simply show up at the door to participate. The activity is open to all. See Mrs. Hull or Ms. McGraw if you have any questions.”
