Music

“Attention all High School Orchestra students: if you borrow a school instrument, you must bring it to John Paulding Before or By Tuesday!! Any students interested in borrowing their instrument over the summer should make sure to get the permission sheet from Mrs. Trenczer on Friday or Tuesday. Make-up lessons are happening this week, so make sure to attend High School Orchestra first period on Friday and Tuesday so that you are aware of when the make up lessons are. Finally, orchestra students (especially seniors) who own or rent their own instrument must bring their instruments home by or before Tuesday!!

Sports

Hi Ladies . . it’s that time of the year again. I would like to have a brief meeting with my current swim team and any girls who are interested to swim next year. Can you please make announcements this week at the beginning and end of the day that there will be a meeting…Friday, June 8th at 3:15 pm in the quad. Lara Vivolo

This Thursday after school, there will be a softball game between the senior class and the faculty of SH. Currently, the faculty holds a 5 to 1 record over the senior class and the faculty holds a 5 to 1 record over the senior classes.

Come see and support your favorite senior or teacher. The faculty will be represented by grizzled veterans like Mr. Bruno, Mr. Gersfeld, Ms. Peltier, Mr. Powell, Mr. G, Mr. Collado, Ms. Berry and Ms. McChoi. The team will also consist of several rookies to the fame, namely Mr. Spirelli, Mr. Schwartz, Mr. Zombo, Ms. Bellantoni, and Ms. Cincotta.

Mr. Bruno has guaranteed a victory for the faculty. If you are interested in playing, please see Bradley Becker-Parton or Mr. Choi ASAP. Seniors not on the official roster will not be allowed to participate.

Sports

Anyone interested in playing Boys Soccer for the fall 2007 season, there will be a meeting Thursday, June 7, at 3:30 pm in the Gym.

There will be an open gym for girls interested in playing volleyball next fall tomorrow afternoon. The open gym will begin at 4:30 pm in the gym.

If you cannot make the open gym for basketball today or volleyball tomorrow, please see Mr. Choi.

There will be a brief cross country meeting on Thursday, June 7th in the cafeteria. This year’s captains are needed. That’s you Devin and Brad. We will meet at 3:15 pm in the cafeteria.

There is a mandatory meeting for all Volleyball players on Wednesday, June 6th at 4:40 pm. Following the meeting will be open gym so come ready to play.

Senior class elections will be held Monday, 6/4 during lunch periods – this is the ONLY time these elections will be held. Come out and vote. Let your voice be heard.

There will be a Cheerleading Practice on Monday and Tuesday in the gym at 3:15 pm, tryouts Wednesday in the gym at 3:15 pm.

There will be a very important meeting after school today, Monday June 4th, for all Varsity Girls Lacrosse players. Please meet outside of the gym at 3:00 pm.

All Varsity Athletes – Please pick your varsity sports award tickets as soon as possible. Next Wednesday is the last day. Dinner is on Monday, June 11 at 6:00 pm.

Instructions to HS Students-Final Examinations 6/2007

THE EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

Copies will be posted in all classrooms, front office and bulletin boards of the school. Study the schedule and note where and when each of your exams will be held. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BEING PRESENT AND ON TIME FOR EACH OF YOUR EXAMS. ENDING TIMES FOR EXAMINATIONS ARE NOT EXTENDED FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE LATE.

REPORTING FOR EXAMINATIONS

The days of the exams are as follows:

Local Exams: Wednesday, June 13; Friday, June 15;

Regent’s Exams: Wednesday, June 13 – Thursday, June 21

The starting times for the exams are:

On June 13, exams will run in segments beginning at

8:00 a.m. for the morning session, 10:10 a.m. for the middle session, and 12:30 p.m. for the afternoon session. On June 14-21 Regents exams and local exams will start at 8:30 for the morning session and 12:30 for the afternoon, unless otherwise indicated.

You are expected to arrive at the examination room 10 minutes

Before the examination is scheduled to begin.

BUS TRANSPORTATION—– (HIGH SCHOOL)

For the examination period, the regular A.M. pickup schedule will be followed. Students, who wish to, may come in on the regular A.M. bus run and study in the building for a P.M. examination. Otherwise they may board a bus coming from the high school after the A.M. testing period.

LENGTH OF EXAMINATIONS

Most non-regents exams are two (2) hours in length. Students will be dismissed only 1 l/2, 1 ¾ and 2 hours after the exam has begun. REGENTS EXAMS AND RCT’S are three (3) hours in length. Students cannot be dismissed from A.M. Regents before 10:00 A.M. or P.M. Regents before 2:00 P.M. or admitted after 10:00 for AM Regents or 2:00 for PM Regents. These hours are determined by New York State. Any premature departure from the test room will invalidate the exam.

CONDUCT OF EXAMINATIONS

Regents rules will be observed in all exams; remove from desk all aids, books, paper, etc.; no communication between students. Examinations will be written with a pen, although the subject teacher may approve the use of a pencil for certain types of exams. Students are not permitted to leave an examination room (lavatory, drink, tissues, etc.) during an exam unless accompanied by a staff member.

CONDUCT IN THE BUILDING AND HALLS

Leave the building when you have completed your exams. It is your responsibility to other students to help keep the building quiet. When you arrive in the building prior to a test, do not walk the halls. You may use the south end of the cafeteria for quiet study or utilize the north end of the cafeteria while waiting for the exam time.

STUDENT DRESS

Students are asked to follow the dictates of good taste in wearing apparel.

PARKING REGULATIONS

The regular parking rules are in effect throughout the examination period. Student parking is limited to spaces beyond the signs designated for “student parking”.

CONFLICTS

If you have a conflict of two or more exams scheduled at the same time, all of your exams will be given in the CONFLICT ROOM 21E unless you have been told otherwise. You must inform your teachers so that they will see to it that your exam is delivered to the Conflict Room. You must also register your conflict with the Department Chairperson in charge. There is no accommodation for test taking after 5:00 on June 13, June 15,

June 19 or June 20, and after 6:30 on June 14.

TEST MODIFICATIONS

If you are a non special-ed student and you have been informed by the school psychologist that you are entitled to test modifications, including alternate setting and extended time, please notify your teachers so they will see to it that your exam is delivered to the test modification room, which is located in 11E. Make sure you are aware whether the modifications only pertain to local exams.

ATTENDANCE

You are not required nor expected to be in school at any time or on any day that you do not have an examination. DO NOT HANG OUT! BOCES students should continue to attend BOCES as required through June 12.

GRADUATION REHEARSAL

On Friday, June 22, seniors are REQUIRED to report to school at

10:00 a.m. for graduation practice in the auditorium. Caps & gowns will be distributed at that time. Students with outstanding obligations will not receive a cap and gown until the obligations have been satisfied. Students with Regents exams or RCT’s at that time will be excused from rehearsal and should see Mr. Alterbaum when they’re finished testing.

LIBRARY

The library will be used for QUIET STUDY ONLY. Students whose behavior is otherwise will be referred to the office of the Assistant Principal. During the exam period, high school students are to remain in the library and not walk through the building.

ABSENCE FROM AN EXAMINATION

Any student who is absent from an exam is expected to present an excuse note signed by a parent or guardian upon return to school. Excuses other than illness must be approved by an administrator. You must have an excused re-admit to make up an exam. (THERE ARE NO MAKE-UPS FOR REGENTS OR REGENTS COMPETENCY EXAMINATIONS).

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

You may not use any communications device while taking a State or local

examination, either in the room where the test is being administered

or while on a supervised break (such as a bathroom visit). Such devices

include, but are not limited to, CD and audiocassette players, radios,

cellular telephones, pagers, MP3 players, Personal Digital Assistants, video

devices, and associated headphones, headsets, microphones, or earplugs.

If your cell phone rings, you may not answer it. If your pager beeps or

vibrates, you may not look at it. You must therefore turn these and other

such devices OFF before you begin any exam and secure them away

from your desktop. Your examination will be invalidated and no score

will be calculated for you if you use such device or related communication

technology or if you wear headphones while in the testing room.
