Announcements for Monday, Day 2
Attention All Seniors:
Please go to the Scholarship Board in Guidance for the following Scholarship information.
1) Coca-Cola Scholarship – Due date: October 31.
2) Pope Memorial Scholarship for seniors of at least 50% Italian descent – Due date: October 27.
SINGERS REHEARSAL WILL BE MOVED TO THIS THURSDAY, AFTER SCHOOL IN THE GYM AREA.
The Latin American Student Organization (L.A.S.O) will be having its first meeting this Thursday in room 312 West at rights after 8th period.
Parking on campus
ALL STUDENTS WHO WISH TO PARK ON CAMPUS, MUST REGISTER THEIR CARS BY SEPTEMBER 19. AFTER THIS YOUR CAR MAY BE TICKETED/AND OR TOWED IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED YOUR CAR.
Cheerleading practice will be today at 4:00pm. Please meet near Mr. Scarpulla’s office.
The Horsemen won another tough game on a humid day in Beacon. Beacon received the ball first and drove down the field to take the lead 6-0 on a touchdown pass. The Horsemen answered by taking the ball down the field, converting a fourth down ,and scoring to take the lead 7-6. The Horsemen added another touchdown before halftime on a flea flicker pass from John Bucci to David Martinez to go up 14-6. The Horsemen were powered by tough running by Bobby Small, Kayzon Stovall and Victor Arpi to grind out another score in the second half on an 8 minute drive to push the lead to 21-6. The Horsemen played great defense in the second half highlighted by two 4th down pass breakups, one by Ryan Tompkins (in his first game since injuring his foot in the spring) and the other by sophomore safety/running back Kayzon Stovall.
The girl’s varsity soccer team captured their third win of the season Friday. The lady horesmen are 3-0 with each game being a shut out! Goalie Jen Onwe had 3 saves on the day while Captain Jamie lead her team with a hat trick and an assist, her first goal was assisted by sister Jessica Bucci. Other goals were scored by captain Cathy Garro, Alexis Bateman and Alexis Birrittella. Additional assists were made by Captain Devan Campbell, Alexis Bateman, and Nube Andracle. The girls next game is Tuesday the 16th 4:30pm at Peabody field against Eastchester.

The Volleyball team would like to thank our fans for their support last night.
The Sleepy Hollow Varsity Field Hockey Team played another strong game against North Salem yesterday, with a tie 1-1. Sleepy Hollow was leading play in the first half with Vali Morales’ first varsity career goal to put the Horsemen ahead. Jennifer Angevine had the assist. With 4 minutes remaining, the North Salem squad answered back with a goal to tie the game. The Horsemen dominated possession and had over 10 shots on goal. Chelsea Keeney had 4 saves for Sleepy Hollow. This brings us to a 0-0-2 overall record. The Horsemen will face neighboring rival, Pleasantville at their home field on Saturday at 11:30am.
Sleepy Hollow Boys Varsity soccer team opened up Thursday at Edgemont. The boys played well in a 4-2 loss. Both goals were scored by Alex Urgiles. Our next game is our home opener at WI on Saturday versus Pleasantville.
Volleyball lost a heartbreaker in 5 games with the last one going to a 29-27 score. The girls played with a great deal of heart. Sleepy Hollow pride and spirit was certainly alive and well.
Learner’s Permit Test
Next week, Ms Farmer-Davis will start seeing students who want to make appointments for the learner’s permit test. The time they are allowed to take the test is during study hall with permission from the teacher or their lunch period or student center. They have to be sixteen years old or older

Yesterday, the boys and girls cross county teams competed against Pearl River at Rockwood Hall. Will McCabe lead the way for the Horsemen placing 6th overall against a tough team. Christian Zolbe, Hwa-Seung Erstling, Alex Berger, and Jake Von Heill placed 2, 3, 4, and 5 for the team respectively.
Katherine Doyle placed first overall in the girls’ race, and broke the school record. She lowered Rosie Crean’s mark by over a minute!
The Horsemen had a great day. Most of the athletes beat their personal records and ran a great race.
Our next meet is Tuesday at Albertus Magnus.
The SHEDI swim team had a strong to their yesterday at the White Plains Relay Carnival. The 200 Yard Backstroke and 200 Yard Butterfly relays took home silver. Congratulations to Megan Lindon, Kerry Oliverira, Daniella Carrissimo, and Alexia Boumis on their swims last night. Good luck as SGEDI heads up state this Saturday to compete in the Owego invitational.
HUGE WIN!!
Girls Varsity Soccer beat Ardsley yesterday 2-0. The Team is lead by Captains Cathy Garro, Devan Campbell, Bianca Bucci, Jess Bucci and Jamie Bucci. Goals were scored by Alexis Bateman and Jamie Bucci. Assists were made by Devan Campbell and Alexis Bateman. Goalie Jen Onwe had 6 saves. All the girls played out of their minds and completely dominated the game in midfield!! The lady horsemen’s next contest is at home against Saunders on Friday, September 12th located on Peabody field at 4:30. Please come support the team as they fight for their third consecutive win!
The Varsity Field Hockey Team a Sleepy Hollow opened their season with a tie against Briarcliff 2-2 . The Horsemen were leading the first half 2-0 with goals from Andrea Alvarez and Gabrielle Cellante, assisted by Gabrielle Cellante and Jennifer Angevine. The Bears came back and answered with two goals, the last one with 32 minutes remaining. The Horsemen dominated the shooting game with a ratio of 2:1. Chelsea Keeney led the defense with 5 saves. Eva Kramer, Gianna Volpe, and Valentina Guzzo played strong on the defensive game. Jennifer Angevine, Dara Brennan, and Carol Ann Bender led a strong offensive front. The Horsemen will face off against North Salem today, Thursday, at 4:15 pm. JV will follow.
Lunch Program

Asian Culture Appreciation Club
The Asian Culture Appreciation Club will have its first meeting this Thursday, September 11 at 3:05 in room 308W. All members must attend. We also are welcoming any new students to join us at this time.
The meeting will be brief, so please come by and check us out.

There will be a Model UN meeting on Thursday at 3:00PM in room 304W. All are welcome!!

Attention All Students:
So many of you have noticed the new Student Lounge – Here are the rules and regulations you should know:
Absolutely no underclassmen (this means 9th and 10th graders are NOT permitted but 11th and 12th graders are)
For all you 11th and 12th graders who want to use the student lounge – YOU CAN ONLY USE IT DURING YOUR STUDENT CENTER PERIODS.
Snacks are acceptable but keep in mind this area is NOT a cafeteria – no food or drinks on the couches-this is why we have tables!
Talk quietly amongst yourselves-no need to yell or raise your voice.
Clean up after yourselves!
No feet on the furniture
No horseplay, no napping
Absolutely no cell phones or Ipods!! The Student Lounge is NOT a waiting room for guidance.
If these rules and regulations are not followed, the Student Lounge will be taken away. Period.
Attention Foreign Language Honor Society Members
There is a mandatory-general meeting on Monday, September 15 at 3:05pm in room 306E (senor Collado’s room)
There will be a mandatory PE Independent Study meeting on Friday at 3:10PM. It will be held on the bleachers outside of the gym (near the concession stand). Please see Ms. Budde-Barone with any questions.
The Homework Center and the Library will be open after school until 4:30 every day, beginning on Monday, September 8th, for students who would like help with their assignments or who just need a quiet place to work. The Homework Center is located in 405 East, and a snack will be provided along with homework help. Staff will be available in the library to help with research, homework, and projects.
Feel free to drop in! No sign up is necessary!
Recycling
Please be reminded to recycle all paper, plastic and glass bottles and metal cans.
