Announcements for Monday, Day 2

The Yoga Club will be held this Wednesday at 5:30 pm in the wrestling room. It is open to all.

The Sleepy Hollow Science Research students competed against over 180 other students from 26 high schools in Westchester County and won numerous awards.
Tara Bonanno and her partner Stephanie from Yorktown HS qualified as finalists at Saturday’s Weschester Science and Engineering Fair and will be presenting their research at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair the week of May 11th in Reno Nevada. In addition Allyson Miscioscia qualified to move on to the New York State Science and Engineering Fair on March 30th in New York City.
Category Awards were:
-Emily Arduino with her partner Tyler from Yorktown HS and Elyssa Swanson tied for 1st place in Behavior Science
-Max Epstein won – 2nd place in Chemistry
-Tara Bonanno 2nd place in Medicine and Health
-Allyson Miscioscia – 3rd place in Medicine and Health
-Mariya Redko and Valentina Guzzo with partner Dianna Morales – 3rd place in Environmental Science
-Sydney Gaylin – 4th place in Cell Biology
-David Salter 4th place in Behavior
-Greg Valdespino – 4th place in Environmental Science
-Roy Lotz 4th place in Chemistry

Announcements for Friday, Day 1

The Social Studies Honor Society of Sleepy Hollow High School cordially invites you to attend our induction ceremony. Keynote speaker: Dr. Joseph Dembo, Fordham University “Ethical Issues in Broadcast News”.
Tuesday, March 31, at 7:30 pm. Sleepy Hollow High School Auditorium. Please RSVP to Roberta Golan by March 27.

There will be a brief swimming interest meeting Monday, March 16th at 3:15 pm outside Mr. Scarpulla’s office. Current and new swimmers welcomed. Lara Vivolo.

Blood Drive on March 25th– Location: Outside the Auditorium
Students 16 yrs. old need permission forms. We have extra spaces, see Sr. Collado to sign up.
Emergency Meeting – all class officers must come.

Attention Candidates for the English Honor Society: This is reminder that all applications and related materials are due on Wednesday, March 17th by 3pm. Applications can be turned into Mrs. McGough Choi or left in her mailbox in the Main Office. If you have any questions please see her in 311 West. Thank you.

There will be SADD Club meetings today, 3/13 and Monday, 3/16 at 3:00pm in Ms. Kutch’s office.

Announcements for Thursday, Day 6

To 10th graders interested in attending BOCES next year – there will be a presentation on Wednesday March 18th during 3rd period. Please see your counselor or Mrs. Grasso in the guidance office for additional information and a pass.

There will be a brief 10 minute football meeting for Varsity and JV players at 3:00 on Tuesday, 3/17 in room 104W. Also there will be a football practice on Friday, 3/20 at 6pm

A reminder to all girls JV lacrosse players – Practice today will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 in the old gym. You must have medical clearance and your goggles in order to participate. If you do not have these, you must still attend.

Announcements for Wednesday, Day 5

Tonight is the Freshmen class Annual Spaghetti Dinner. Stop by and enjoy some good food and some good times. $5 per Person Anytime from 4:30 – 7:00 PM.

All members of the Great Potential Program must meet with Dr. Burton on Thursday at 7:45 am in the College and Career Center in the Guidance area.

The African-American Heritage Club will meet on Thursday in Room 307 West at 3:05 p.m.

Physics Club is selling Pie-grams and t-shirts for Pi-day this Friday. They will be taking orders today and tomorrow in the cafeteria. Get a pi for your sweetie pie!

The Sleepy Hollow Pioneer Basketball Team defeated Somers yesterday, 36-24. It was a great game with tremendous team effort. Brandon Cooper scored 16 points along with 2 steals and 2 rebounds with Brenda Alfaro right behind him scoring 14 points and 2 assists, but these 2 could not have done it without the help of their teammates – Molly Leavey had 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists, Jan Carlo Flanders had 2 assists and 1 rebound, Carlos Reyes-Rojas had 2 rebounds and 3 assists and Byron Leon had 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 points. When you see these great kids in the hall, be sure to tell them what a great job they did. It was an amazin g game – Go Horsemen and Lady Horsemen!

Announcements for Tuesday, Day 4

Voting for officers of the National Honor Society will take place on Wednesday, 3/10 in room 319W. Only juniors in the NHS may vote. Come to vote before school, after school or during lunch.

The World Culture Club meeting for today is postponed until Thursday. We will meet at 3:15 pm on Thursday, in 308W.

The African-American Heritage Club is sponsoring a school supply drive from March 11, through March 27. Attention junior and seniors students:
If students are interested in receiving community service hours here is a great opportunity! On Sunday, March 29th 5 students are needed to help out at a golf luncheon at Lake Isle Country Club. Students responsibilities would include welcoming and greeting the women attending the luncheon as well as helping to register the women for golf leagues in the summer. This task would require inputting information into computers. For more information, please see Ms. Turnesa.

Announcements for Monday, Day 3

Attention Freshmen Class Officers: There is a meeting Tuesday, March 10th after school in 317W. That is meeting Tuesday March 10th after school in 317 W.

Attention Math Team!
Please report to room 203w after school today. We will be leaving around 3:05 to go to White Plains. If you cannot make it please be sure to let Ms. Bloom know.

There will be a mandatory L.A.S.O. meeting this Thursday right after 8th pd. in 312West.

JV Girls’ Lacrosse will have their first practice today in the Morse gym at 3:30. If you have not already submitted your medical clearance form, you must do so before you can practice.

Varsity and JV Spring sports begin today. Make sure you are medically cleared to practice.

Attention: All Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse Players
This is a reminder that today’s practice will begin at 3:30pm inside the WI gym.
You must hand in your Blue forms and Contracts in order to participate.

Attention: Varsity and JV Girls’ Lacrosse players
The season begins today! We have practice today at 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the gym. Please try to get there by 5:15 pm so that we can be ready to practice at 5:30pm. If you are going to play this season you must attend.

Announcements for Friday, Day 2

Attention juniors and seniors:
Pan-Hellenic College Fair (Purchase College) for juniors and seniors of African American ethnicity as well as other ethnic groups who desire to attend institutions of higher learning.
The trip will be made on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 under supervision of Sleepy Hollow staff members. Please note that this trip is first come first served. Return your permission slip ASAP to Mrs. Greene.

Attention all students interested in playing Varsity Golf.
There will be a meeting on Monday at 3 pm in 204W. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Choi.
There is no need to bring your clubs.

On Monday 9 – Varsity & JV Softball starts. All prospective players meet the coaches between the Old Gym and New Gym at 4:15 pm . Practice pm to 7 pm in the new gym. Tony Milewski

Our Sleepy Hollow Pioneer Team lost their basketball game against Mamaroneck last night with a score of 38 – 24, but they played an awesome game.

Announcements for Thursday, Day 1

There will be a mandatory meeting for current Social Studies Honor Society members today, Thursday, at 3:05 in room 302N. Please attend.

For future members of the Social Studies Honor Society, the application is due today. You may give it to Mrs. Golan in Room 302N or put it in her mailbox in the main office. Thanks.

The African-American Heritage Club will meet today at 3:05 pm in Room 307 West.

We need Models for our Annual Prom and Casual Wear Spring Fashion Show. Please sign up in the cafeteria during lunch.

GET YOUR ‘GAME ON’ WHEN THE WARNER LIBRARY HOSTS ANOTHER GUITAR HERO III GAME NIGHT, FRIDAY, MARCH 6TH, 6 – 9PM ON THE LIBRARY’S THIRD FLOOR. JUST BRING YOURSELF AND FRIENDS- WE’LL SUPPLY THE EQUIPMENT, REFRESHMENTS, AND PRIZES. THE TOURNAMENT IS FREE FOR ALL MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL COMPETITORS AND SPECTATORS.
