Announcements for Thursday, Day 6
The Vocabulary Word for Today is: Denote – To indicate or mark.
The student was so embarrassed after walking into the wrong bathroom. She must have missed the sign on the door denoting it as the boys’ room.
Yesterday Sleepy Hollow Softball defeated Yonkers 5 to 2. Jamie Bucci pitched the win striking out 8 while allowing only 4 hits. Jamie also had a Home Run. Vanessa Onwe had a hit an RBI and a run scored. Shaylin Best in Centerfield and Crystal Salazar at Third Base each made a tremendous defensive play.
“Attention all sophomores running in the class elections, please see Mrs. Keiser in room 306 East as soon as possible to record the video of your speech. The due date for all videos is Friday May 11th. ”
The Art Club is cancelled for today.
The African-American Heritage Club will be having a bake sale on Thursday at 3:00p.m. We have some great treats for you.

Announcements for Wednesday, Day 5

Attention Upward Bound students participating in community service this Sunday, May 6th- Please meet at 1 p.m. in front of the middle school.
There will be a mandatory meeting of all Foreign Language Honor Society officers on Friday at 7:30 in Senor Collado’s room. Please attend!
The Vocabulary Word for Today is: Articulate – To express ideas clearly.
When I received the acceptance letter from my dream college, I didn’t know how to articulate my feelings; they were just beyond words.
On Tuesday, May 1st, the boys track team competed against Eastchester and Mamaroneck. Will Stallings had a great day. He ran 22.8 in the 200m which is a sophomore record! David Maldonado led the distance runners. He ran 5:08 in the mile and 2:21 in the 800. Mike Valentin showed some heart by running 57.0 in the 400m. Our next meet is Saturday, May 5th, at Somers HS.

Attention ALL Girls in the Upward Bound program: This Saturday April 28 is the Girls Conference at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. Please be there by 9 a.m.
The Vocabulary Word for Today is: Enumerate – To mention one by one.
It would be impossible to enumerate each top or pair of jeans of mine that have found their way into my sister’s closet over the years.

Horsemen Defeat Ardsley 14 – 3
The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team improved their record to three and four, with a 14 – 3 victory over Ardsley. The potent offense featured NINE different players contribute to the scoring.
Jake Warren led all scorers with three goals and one assist. Steven Bencosme tallied four points as well with two goals and two assists. Goal-keeper, Alex Laub led the stingy defense with nine saves.
The Horsemen look to even their record when they host Edgemont today at 4:30pm.
Congratulations to Senior Alexia Boumis on being the 2012 winner of the Westchester County Officials Swimming $500 scholarship award. Alexia has been a varsity swimmer and Captain of the SHEDI team for over 5 years. Within her swimming career, she has been a Divisional and Sectional qualifier and finalist, as well as a New York State qualifier in the 400 and 200 free relays in 2010 and 2011. Alexia not only excels in the pool, but academically as well. She constantly pushes herself in the classroom, taking AP and other challenging courses as well as remaining on of the top students in her 2012 graduating class. She is a model athlete and swimmer and on behalf of the SHEDI swim team we would like to congratulate her on winning this prestigious award.

The Latin American Student Organization will have a meeting today in room 312west right after 8th period all members should attend.

The Southern Westchester College Fair will be held on Monday, April 30th from 6:30pm – 9:00pm at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Representatives from more than 300 two-year and four-year colleges will be available to meet with students and their families. See your counselor for more information on this event.
Attention all 9th grade students going on the trip to Caramoor tomorrow: You will be back for 7th period, so you must be prepared to take your Math Test if you have Ms. O’Brien.
There will be Freshman Class Council meeting this Thursday after school in Mrs. Rosen’s Room at 3PM.

I added up all of the hours I spend a week playing BlackOps and the aggregate shocked me. I should probably use some of that time to study or exercise.

Announcements for Monday, Day 4
The Hoofprints newspaper club will meet today, Monday April 23 @ 3:00 in room 201C. All members please attend as we will be discussing the process of choosing new editors for the 2012-13 school year.
There will be a Model UN Club meeting on Tuesday, April 24 at 3:05 PM in room 304W. All members are expected to attend.
Our Varsity Softball team beat Irvington on Friday 16 to 0. Jamie Bucci pitched the win she also had 3 hits 4 runs scored and an RBI. Her sister Jenny Bucci had two hits a Home Run and a Triple, 4 runs scored and an RBI. Shaylin Best had two hits, two runs scored and 4 RBI’s. Vanessa Onwe had two hits, a run scored and 3 RBI’s. Sarah McCarthy in her first varsity game had a triple and two runs scored.
On Thursday, April 19th, the Sleepy Hollow Pioneer Basketball team defeated Fox Lane/Ardsley with a final score of 27-17. It was one of tightest games of the season, but the players came together with GREAT passing from Bryan Cabreja and GREAT defense from Carlos Reyes Rojas – scoring for the team was Manny Rodriguez, Molly Leavey, and Andrew Kozak with 2 each, Brandon Cooper with 10 points (this includes 2, 3 point shots) and our high scorer of the game…Brenda Alfaro with a whopping 11 points, including a 3 pointer from downtown at the end of the game!
Our next game (and this is our very last home game for the year) will be Wednesday, 4/25/12 – please come out and support this amazing team (and we always cheer for our opponents too!) – we even provide fan gear!
Attention all SHADE intern: If you have not turned in your permission slip for the Youth Conference this Sunday, please do so ASAP to Mrs. Kaczmarek. If you need a permission slip, see Mrs. K. We will meet at the JCC at 10:00 Sunday morning. You must turn in your permission slip if you want to go.

The ESL Club is having Sports Night on Friday, May 4 from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Middle School gym. The cost of $4.00 includes a chance to play volleyball, indoor soccer and basketball, followed by pizza and soda. The activity is open to all middle school and high school students.

Attention all SHADE members: The SHADE after school program is cancelled for today. We will meet again next week.
Attention Seniors: The last day to submit your payment for the Prom is April 27th. That’s next Friday. Please submit your $90 payment only to Mr. Larkin before or after school ASAP to reserve your spot. You must have your dues up to date to attend. Mr. Larkin will either be in room 205W or 217W.

ALVIN HALL is a famous author, money expert, and TV personality, especially in England where he’s created and appeared on numerous TV shows. He’ll expound on the basic economic principles to help students understand the importance of developing good money management skills. Refreshments will be provided after the program.
