Happy Election Day!! The Sleepy Hollow polls will be open during 6th period today and results will be announced at the end of the day. 9th and 10th graders will be voting outside the cafeteria. 11th and 12th graders will be voting in the senior lounge.

“There will be a Bowling club meeting in Mr. Spirelli’s Room #217W on Thursday, November 6th at 3:10 pm right after school. If you are interested please attend.”

If you are interested in purchasing a copy of our yearbook “The Legend ‘09”, please get your deposit in to Cathy Lia in the main office.
Price is $70. After Thanksgiving, the price increases to $80.
A $20 deposit is required to reserve a copy.

TSTT Students must see Mr. Franco after these announcements to pick-up trip permission forms.

The ESL Club will have an Open Gym followed by pizza next Friday, Nov. 7 from 3:30-5:30 in the SH gym. The cost is $4.00 for members and includes pizza. See Mrs. Hull or Ms. McGraw if you have questions.

Any girl interested in playing basketball (Varsity or JV) come to a brief meeting at 3:30 in the gym area on Monday, 11/3. An open gym will follow the meeting.

The College Night for Juniors on Wed. Nov. 5th at 7:30 in the evening in the cafeteria.

The Foreign Language Honor Society proudly presents its annual International Banquet today, 10/30. Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm in the HS cafeteria. Bring your family and friends.

Prepare for a scare! Come down to the Boys and Girls Club tonight for the Haunted trail! Starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm. The fee is $2 per person. All are welcome!

The Model UN Club will meet at 3 PM on Thursday, 10/30 in room 304W. New members are welcome!

There will be an open gym shoot around on Wednesday at 3:30 in the gym? Any girl interested in playing basketball this season should attend.

Reminder: Big playoff football game against Horace Greeley here at 1:30 on Saturday. When we win we will be playing in a Class A bowl game the following week. Come and support our team.

Varsity football practice will be indoors - be prepared to have sneakers and if the weather lets up you may go outside.

There is a mandatory meeting of the AC2 Club this afternoon in Room 308W at 3:15pm. Al members must attend.

There will be a Ski Club meeting on Thursday, 10/30/08, at 3:00pm in Room 209W. All interested should attend.

Attention students: If you are interested in joining the weight-lifting/fitness club, please see Mr. Bruno at 3:05 pm in the gym.

Attn. Ms. Cincotta’s 11th grade English class. We will not be going on the trip today due to inclement weather. The trip will be on Thursday. Please bring your binders to class today.

There will be a home football game this Saturday, November 1st at 1:00pm vs Horace Greeley. Hope to see you there.

Sleepy Hollow JV Boys soccer beat Irvington 6-3. The last game of the season was ended on a positive note with goals scored by TJ Kent, Brandon Patino, John Michael Bogusz, Mark Sanchez, Carlos Uyaguari, and last but not least, Edwin Zhinin! Thank you boys for the great season!

Attn JV field hockey players: There will be a brief meeting in 307W today after school to discuss our sweatshirt and pants order. Please see Ms. Cincotta if you are not able to attend.

Art Club will meet Tuesday in Room 303S. This will be a joint meeting with SPEAR to discuss the painting of recycling cans. All interested artists unable to attend, please see Ms. Dreher.

Attention weight-lifting club/fitness club members: There will be a meeting tomorrow, 10/28, after school in the Gym.

Watch the development of special effects in movies in an exciting media presentation at the Warner Library, Monday, October 27th, 6-7:30pm. See how filmmakers have used technology to make the impossible seem real! All ages welcome. Snacks and beverage provided.

Get set for Halloween. Come to ‘Fright night’ at the Warner Library, Thursday, October 30th and catch a scary doubleheader: see ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ with Jeff Goldblum at 3:00pm. Then for those who don’t scare easily, see ‘Poltergeist’ at 6:30 pm. Refreshments provided.

Today’s Red Ribbon Fact for the Day, brought to you by the members of the SADD and VAASA clubs: The majority of teenagers do not use alcohol or other drugs. Statistics clearly show that NOT everyone is doing it!!

Attention JV field hockey players. There will be a brief meeting in 307W after school on Monday to discuss our sweatshirt/pant order. Please attend or see Ms. Cincotta if you plan on ordering!

Yesterday, girl’s varsity volleyball had an amazing win against the Pearl Rivers Pirates. For the first time in history, Sleepy Hollow beat them twice in the same season. The captains Sarah Kelly and Clare Bucci would like to thank the team for making this the best season possible. And we love you all!!

Rebecca Sutherland had a career high 37 assist.
Captains Sarah Kelly & Clare Bucci combined for 18 kills.

Best of luck to the boy’s soccer team in their sectional game tomorrow at Byram Hills. Game time is 1:15pm. Go Horsemen!!

Home football game is at 1:30 pm. It is a playoff game against Portchester here at Sleepy Hollow.

Girls’Varsity volleyball had a great win against the varsity football’s ‘B’ team. Nick Carraro had I block and Sarah Kelly had 4 kills. Final score was 12 to 25. At the re-match the girls would like to ask the football players to bring their ‘A’ team.

Today’s Red Ribbon Fact for the Day, brought to you by the members of the SADD and VAASA clubs: Mixing alcohol and marijuana dramatically increases the chances of alcohol poisoning because of marijuana’s effects on and in the brain. Alcohol poisoning can often be fatal.

The girls’ volleyball team will have bake sales today with lots of goodies – we will have not one, but 2 locations near the HS gym and just outside the MS entrance. Come enjoy delicious baked goods!

The ladies soccer team finished their season on a high note yesterday beating Woodlands 7-1. The team was lead by senior captain Cathy Garro and freshman captain Jamie Bucci, each scoring two goals, Cathy also had one assist and Jamie had two. All tree seniors for the Lady Horseman scored. Senior captain and defender Bianca Bucci had one goal and two assists. Senior Captain Devan Campbell had one goal and an ssist. The additional goal was scored by Alexis Bateman. Kelly Bender also had an assist on the day. Goal tender Jen Onwe had 8 saves and Bobby Shortell finished the game in goal with the final save of the game. The ladies ended the season tying the district’s number of wins for girls soccer. They look to shatter that record next year! The team would like to thank all the parents and supports of the team!

Yesterday at Sleepy Hollow, the Headless Horsemen won a difficult game against their arch rival Albertus Magnus 3-2. Goals were scored by Jason Ruivo (3) and were assisted by Elmer Cueva, Carlos Gomes, and Matt Praino. The headless Horsemen clinched the final seed in sections and will play Byran Hills on Saturday, October 25 in the first round.

JV Boys’ soccer game schedule for 10/23 at Beacon has been dropped by Beacon. (They have too many games.)

Playoff varsity football game this Saturday, October 25th at home vs. Port Chester at 1:30pm.

Winter sports are right around the corner. Remember to pick up your blue form from the nurse or Athletic Office, get it signed and return it to the nurse. If you played a fall sport you do not need a physical. If you did not play, you must get a blue form turned in as soon as possible and the nurse will schedule you for a physical on November 5th.
The VAASA and SADD clubs welcome you to this years Red Ribbon Week, the annual prevention activity designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol use. Members of these clubs will be handing out ribbons and other giveaways throughout the week as a way to remind all of us that using alcohol and other drugs only makes things worse and can lead to tragedy.
Today’s Red ribbon Fact For the Day brought to you by the members of the SADD and VAASA clubs: Marijuana can be addictive. More teens enter substance abuse treatment centers with marijuana dependence than for all other drugs combined.
